tReal Official Night Shift v68, because I can and you better love it, Mfers.

The books are awesome, even though they're a little dated now. I haven't seen any of the shows but I hear they're good
i tend to have to pay super close attention to these sci-fi thingies because of all the different warring/allied factions. I'm always like, "wait - those guys hate those ones, but those ones are friends with the other ones because they hate those other ones that are going to do something really bad in 4 thousand years, just like they did 8 thousand years ago."

Anywho- so far, so good with this show. A little too heavy on the time-jumping, but I think I have the gist. Probably would be easier for me to keep track of all the players if I read a book, but let's get real... I ain't doin' that.

Calling all muh nerds :mod:

This Isaac Asimov feller…what’s his deal? There’s a “Foundation” tv show I’m thinking about getting into. Thoughts?
His books are awesomeness, IMO. Especially if you like SciFi. The first movie (or was it a series?), "Foundation", is "woke" since they change some male charaters from the book to female and a few other wokeness things. The visuals/effects are nice, though

But like MOST movies (based on a book), they vary too much from the book. Too much stuff to cover in the movies. The Will Smith movie, I Robot, had basically nothing based on the actual book by Asimov.

You'll just have to watch and see if it tweaks your tweaker! :heh:

I've never been a sci-fan at all. I've never even seen Star Trek or Star Wars (except for some bits with the ewoks), but I realized that I liked the new Dune movies and have been watching other dystopian-type shit where I really have to suspend disbelief and I don't totally hate it.

Yeah, the books are great.

It's been so long since I read them, though, I probably wouldn't remember them enough to know what has or hasn't been changed with the shows, which would be a good thing.

Well, if you run out of things to watch, there's a show that was originally done in the 70's and remade in the 00's called Battlestar Galactica. The original was ok, imo. The remake is fantastic.

The movies can't do justice for the book versions. Frank Herbert's Dune series is definitely another scifi classic, but the movies/series can't cover what makes Dune (or Asimov's Foundation Series) so popular. Lots of DEEP stuff going on that goes missing in the movies.

The Lord of The Rings trilogy movies, for example, are pretty close to being accurate in a roundabout way.

Bottom line... IF you enjoy it, then go for it!! :martini:

I realized that I liked the new Dune movies

The Chalamet Dune movies are fucking CGI fakes. They totally eliminate the most important characters, the Navigator's Guild, which enabled interplanetary travel and controlled the spice. They ordered the Emporer to put a hit on Paul Atreides since they foresaw Paul would fuck with the spice flow. If you want authenticity, see the David Lynch version of Dune, a 1984 film.

Uh..... if that doesn't tweak her tweaker, I'll volunteer to tweak her tweaker!

Tomorrow. I'm headed to The Reservation tonite. After that, I have the rest of the weekend free, so that should be plenty of time to get her tweaker tweaked.
