The winds here ALL have an east, southeast, or south bias to them.


The only time there would be a west bias is when a low pressure system in tracking through. The northern quadrant would have a low level westerly bias due to it's CCW spin. Even then the entire low pressure system is moving east along the jet stream.

It is literally impossible for a balloon let go in Lincoln, NE to get to Wyoming.

The world spins a little differently I some parts of Oregon.
 
Either way, not every fan is/was given a balloon. Maybe 5% at the most. They were handed out outside the stadium until they were gone.
I myself have never had a balloon at a Nebraska game. I'd walk right past the peeps handing them out. Didn't care about it, nor did I feel like walking around holding a fucking balloon for who knows how long. I'd rather eat and drink.

That being said, it is littering outside the stadium and it should end. There is literally no argument to keep doing it.

I need to start a poll. Which fact will @Red_Alert and Nebraska fans grasp first.

1. NO ONE. Not a single person outside of Nebraska gives two shits about your balloon tradition. The rest of the world quit playing with balloons in elementary school. Who knew they were still a thing in Nebraska. Those responding in this post are laughing at you, not with.

OR.........

2. The days of Nebraska being elite are done -- and no elite coach is going to Nebraska, because the recruiting disadvantage is enormous compared to truly elite schools (no in state talent, next to no talent in surrounding states, ranked dead last in academics in the B1G). Nebraska has absolutely nothing to sell themselves to recruits now over any elite football school.

I'm thinking a lot of Nebraska fans are starting to grasp #2 -- that's why they are holding so tight to meaningless "traditions" like fake sellouts and balloons.
