Trucks Jeeps big Tyne WTF

I have a '23 Tundra with the gold package er whatever the fuck it's called. I work from home, so it's used for camping, floating, yardwork and little else. I lease them, for 3 years, put next-to-no mileage on them, and then buy out the lease at the end. Sold my last two within a week of purchase, and made 12k and 10k, respectively.

They hold their value better than any other truck, and that is not even arguable.

The new one is tits'd out. The rear camera is crazy af. It shows a view from above, and is rad when parking.

I'll bet you're really buying a Prius just because Hammer loves those things.

You need to do more research. Toyota tundras been all American V8 until 2023.

Rams are Cadillacs now basically fine if you keep them on the pavement but once they hit 100k good luck.

Tundra TRD Pro is the premium off road vehicle and I can get 2019 with under 20k miles for almost $20000 under a Ram 2023 Longhorn lol

If true that is brilliant.

I will have to do math on that to see if you are not full of shit though.

Just sold my 2020, the end of May, for $41K. Owed just under $32k, so 9 and change, technically. Only had 17k and change for mileage on it.

I think we paid $42K for it originally.

Listed it at $43.5, but came down to 41 just to be done with it. Prolly could've held out and got what we asked, just because they are in limited supply and high demand right now.

This works in the current environment and the timing was spot on but I'm not sure this type market holds. I can't remember a time when the difference in buying new and used was so marginal due to supply and demand. If supply goes up then used cars will drop and that 9K is easily eaten up with the depreciation of the vehicle at that point.

If you bought 3 years ago then you were right on the cusp of COVID and dealers were making deals to get rid of inventory because we all thought the economy was going to plummet (I bought my wife's Acura RDX during this time also and could still probably make money on it if I sold it 3 years later) and now everything is at a premium.

Timing worked on your behalf but I don't think it will continue to work that way as the market shifts.

Gonna make bout the same on the wife's 4 runner, here in a couple months.

I won't tell ya about the land I stole, right as the market was starting to go crazy here.

I got a steal on my wife's car but I don't want to replace it either that was at least a 10-year purchase. My philosophy has always been to buy used with 30K or less, pay cash and buy a brand that will easily go 200K and it's worked well.

The way you are doing it you also have to figure in the cost of the lease.

What do you do with it? You get off road?

Let me hear about your level of bad ass

How many miles? From what I hear after 100k the shitty parts in Rams are done and need replaced
LOL hope you know that was self-deprecating sarcasm

But, no I don't go off road, at least for pleasure. I use it to haul soil, mulch, plants and material and then pull equipment with trailer. It's a 2020 with about 44k. The only issue I have had so far is a bracket on the exhaust system broke off but was an easy fix. I wasn't necessarily looking for something with that big of a motor but I initially was interested in a Chevy Trailboss but I did not like how it handled. This truck is loaded with any feature you could want, the ride is fantastic but I also know if can easily handle the rugged work needs I have.

Right, but still, lump sum cash is lump sum cash. Paid close to 10k over 3 years. Got 9 in cash. :noidea: I suppose you could argue we lost a grand, but that would be negating the value of using it for 3 years....either way, I'll take it.

We've been leasing for 10 years. We haven't ALWAYS bought em out, as sometimes it wasn't worth it, but the low mileage yodas, we've almost always been in position to.

I will make jokes about 'em, but Toyotas are great trucks

I think for what you are doing Ram is fine and might even go 150k miles. But you take it off road and get to 80k it’s going to go downhill quick. I need something durable for off road that will last 200k miles.

I likely won't have it at 150k. I typically keep my trucks for about 6-7 years. I take excellent care of my vehicles, keep 'em serviced and repairs as needed. I have owned a truck from all of the big 3 at some point ('89 Ford F-150, '99 Silverado) were also great trucks from experience

All good trucks especially the old ones

Pretty good deal all around. Didn’t rape anyone like I do the cable company but still good
