Candle has done a solid job at Toledo, I’m a little surprised he hasn’t been lured away by some bigger schools/programs yet.

He prolly likes being a big fish in a small pond maybe?

I didn't realize he has been there 10 years....and he is just 45? Still time for him to jump to a bigger program but maybe he sees guys like Billy Napier go from a small program in Louisiana to a bigger school in the SEC and realizes it isn't all it's cracked up to be?

Frank Solich went from a big program like Nebraska (sure, make all the jokes you want but they used to be a college powerhouse) to a smaller one like Ohio where he was MAC-tion royalty with his 115-82 record in 16 seasons. Turned them around.

Make your jokes but he was 4th in wins at the time of his retirement in 2021.

@ralphiewvu would prolly kill for a coach like Candle at West Virginia though.

And that could be a good move.....if Candle decided to make the move to a BIGGER program. Not elite, but a big enough move where he could make a difference maybe?
 
I mean it's not like the expectations at West Virginia are that unreasonable....

Nebraska should have left him alone but NINE WINS wasn’t good enough for them. Hilarious to think that now, and the Huskers have paid a steep price for
1. Getting cursed for doing that to Solich and 2. Losing their identity of a tough guy/blue blood type of football program when they got away from Solich.
