Uh Oh TN....

Pruitt was using his wife as a bagman!

In the documents, the NCAA says that Jeremy Pruitt and staff gave players cash and extra benefits throughout his time at Tennessee. It also says his wife Casey Pruitt was involved, paying more than $15,000 in car payments and housing money for a Volunteer player over a 2 1/2 year period. This also includes members of the previous staff that were fired from the school.

The notice says that Jeremy’s wife provided $500 cash payments on 25 different occasions to an unknown player, while also providing a $1,600 payment to an unknown player for a security deposit and initial rent payments.

Straight up scumbag. There is no excuse for getting your wife involved and your family should have been kept as far away as possible.

So key things that I am hearing from VolNation and other outlets (granted they maybe bias) is that the NCAA did commend Tennessee for its action in being the whistle blower and for the self-imposed penalties.

The NCAA's letter also did NOT cite to a lack of institutional control which is HUGE. Most of the big punishments have come down based on the lack of "Institutional Control" metric.

I personally think we will get some small fines and perhaps a few scholarship reductions. Worse case would be forfeit the wins under Jeremy Pruitt (which wasn't a lot).

Jeremy Pruitt might be in trouble though.

Are we sure his wife wasn't getting some on the side and this wasn't hush money?

From the Outkick article just posted:

The NCAA actually praised Tennessee for the way they handled the investigation, saying their work should be the ‘standard’ when it comes to inquiries.

The actions taken by the institution during the investigation should be the standard for any institutional inquiries into potential violations. Throughout the investigation the institution exhibited exemplary cooperation in multiple ways. Once the institution’s chancellor was alerted to allegations of potential violations within the football program, the institution took swift action to investigate the allegations and substantiated various violations related to Allegation No. 1.
Tennessee Chancellor Donde Plowman, who fired Jeremy Pruitt, released the following statement,

While we will take appropriate responsibility, last fall, the university announced that we will not self-impose penalties that harm innocent student-athletes like postseason bans based upon the actions of coaches and staff who are no longer part of the institution. Under the NCAA’s new constitution, rules “must ensure to the greatest extent possible that penalties imposed for infractions do not punish programs or student-athletes not involved or implicated in the infraction(s). While NCAA bylaws prohibit the university from publicly commenting about the specific allegations, we have and will continue to seek a timely resolution of this case that is consistent with the NCAA’s new constitution and in the best interests of the University of Tennessee.”

Yeah, I am not concerned.

Honestly, the NCAA is a joke now so I'd be shocked if they have the teeth to do anything past what you outlined. Ten years ago and you probably would have gotten hammered.

Let's face it UT turned themselves in just so they didn't have to buy Pruitt out and it is probably going to work for them but damn that was a hell of a roll of the dice. NIL negating the acts and a weak NCAA definitely work in your favor. On the flip side, this might be the last chance the NCAA has to attempt to make themselves relevant so they could go for broke but doubtful they have the juice.

The interesting part is what is the NCAA going to do to Pruitt who has vowed to spill the beans on everyone else (I mean the dude's wife just got drug through the mud). I imagine there are quite a few programs out there that are still a little nervous and actions behind the scenes to make this go away. If Pruitt doesn't get paid something, can't land another job because of infractions, and starts spilling on Kirby and Saban then I might have to buy a whole truckload of popcorn.

Please promote that theory so Pruitt goes ape shit and starts spilling the beans.

NCAA has already praised Tennessee's response so I doubt we get hit hard.

I would totally love if the highlighted part came true though.

Hell, it is like we have been on probation for 15 years anyways. Perhaps we weren't cheating enough and Pruitt was trying to bring the Alabama way to Tennessee to make us relevant again like Alabama.

These cash payments seem like small beans now compared to the NIL payments being made.

I know Pruitt and he is an egomaniac idiot that was destined to fail. No doubt he thought he could be the next Nick Saban but didn't have the intelligence to pull any of it off. Do you think Nick would have had Miss Terry paying players?

What a complete joke and pile of shit that dude is. I wouldn't cross the street to pee on him if he was on fire.

I doubt he actually leaves but I had to make the joke

Well Oregon got one of the top QBs as well with Dante Moore so you don't have to be concerned about that position either (if our QBs pan out to meet hype).

I would make a joke that Tennessee's devious plan all along was to get Jeremy angry and have him spill the beans on our rivals... but that may not stick knowing how incompetent our administration has been in he past.
