We had a tournament game after my senior year of high school. During my first at bat, I went down 0-2 on pitches somewhere between the level of my neck and my eyes.Personally I thought the batters response would be more effective than the getting mad they do in the majors. Could you imagine a batter in the majors doing that for that amount of time. Ump cant retaliate because nothing is being said yet, everything needed to be said is getting said LOL. Loved that kids response!
My dad was coaching third, and he's telling me to swing at anything because the umpire's going to call it a strike. I step out and take practice swings at pitches over my head.
Dumbass pitcher actually threw a strike in that situation, and I hit a double off the fence. We wound up losing the game anyway, because our pitchers couldn't get anyone out. And I did say something to the umpire in the next inning. I was catching, and the first time he called a ball on a pitch up, I reminded him that he had called pitches higher than that strikes when I was batting.
If he was bad or squeezed us after, I don't really recall, because nothing else was that egregious.
