Under the Porch with the Guide Bear!

Hello kind friends, I hope you're all having good days!

I been decompressing and trying to flatten out some wrinkles so to speak. I also been trying to come to terms with my new reality.
I am now a SENIOR CITIZEN! Cripes. I got plans.

I remember when I still lived in Akron and how entertained I'd be on Senior Day at the groby market and it dint seem that long ago! And now I'm one of 'em. Oh, I got plans, do I ever. I got me one of them old people scooters and I'm gonna take lots of pics and hone my picture - superimposing skills and you WILL be entertained! I demand it! You doubters just wait and see...

But I still have a bunch of work to do before I can really sink my teeth into this new Senior Citizenry gig! I think some of you guys will really get a kick out of it, I hope so.

I'm kind of worried about my Yorkie. It's like his tendons and bone joints aren't working. He can't put any weight on one front leg and he keeps falling down when he tries to walk. His hips are bad too. I think these tiny dogs might get inbred too much causing health problems. I think he's 11 or 12 years old.

I'm worried the vet will recommend putting him out... :bawling: He stayed with me all day and he was mostly lethargic.

Sorry to hear this. I have a dog that is close to having to make a decision on myself. I have never had a dog just die. I have always had to make the choice for them. It's tough, but if you have to think about too often, you've waited too long.

Good morning, kind friends!

I'm taking this Senior Citizenry serious! I just started practicing the shaking of my bony fist, how very exciting!

And I'm gonna find out if Kroger has a Senior Day and even if they don't I'm gonna ride my scooter all the way to the groby!

My scooter has a top speed of 11mph and the clumsy carts supplied by most retail stores and groby stores, they top out at an embarrassing 1.5 MPH! I can't wait!

@Tin Man @Deep Creek @Jon Deaux , I was hoping you guys could help me remember a few of the names when we used to post at FN in the CFB threads.

Our friend from Texas, he's a Longhorn fan and he had a motorcycle. I miss him like crazy! What is his name and why ain't he here?
And Grue/Psu, he is so smart and such a good guy. I miss him like crazy too!
And how about the 'Colonel', I hope he's still among the living. He was always almost dying every few months.

Colonel (aka 0-6) and I stayed in touch via e-mail and snail mail for several years after FN. He'd send a Christmas card to me every year with a Kentucky Wildcat log of some kind. But, I got one from his wife a couple of years ago telling me he had passed on during that year.

There were a couple of Texas motorcycle guys IIRC. I think the one you are talking about was a guy in Weatherford that was a motorcycle enthusiast and a Longhorn fan. Went by moniker of "Doc" something or something Doc. I can't recall his exact moniker but his input into the discussions was always good.

The other lived in the upper valley between El Paso and Las Cruces, NM and went by Harley Marlboro. @Tin Man was in touch with him off the boards I think. But I don't think he was a Longhorn fan. He was a Buckeye IIRC.

The other rabid Longhorn fans I remember were JRM, FJJ and Guido. JRM was from Wichita Falls and lived in the DC area now. He was always ragging the Aggies. IIRC, FJJ was a military kid and worked in finance in the Southlake area. Guido was a former QB from the Hurst, Euless, Bedford area of the metroplex.

Grue was very sharp. I think he migrated to the Sportshoopla site but didn't see him much in the college football board.

I miss the banter of the old GR's Ice Haus. That old azz draggin lizard fan was a lot of fun. Those were good discussions without trolls/attacks/crap. Maybe a lot of bullshit and nonsense, but it was fun as hell.

Wow, thanks for all that info, @Deep Creek ! That was very kind of you. I'm sorry to hear the Colonel passed. Damn it! I wish I woulda been nicer to him...

But yeah, 'Doc', that's who I was thinking of. I just can't remember his full name either. He's awesome! I loved his stories about his group of hunting buddies. JRM was a riot too. I loved his stories about his in-laws, so funny!

And the Ice Haus, oh jeez, did you remember I lived under the porch at the Ice Haus too? Just like I do here! It was such a good group of very informed CFB fans... I'm glad you're here and please feel free to visit anytime! It's gonna get better Under the Porch, in a little bit.

Thanks Petey, the little guy hardly moved at all today and it just doesn't feel right. And now my son is mad at us, mad at me and his mom because he thinks we don't take good enough care of our pups. We didn't have anything to do with his little legs not working. And my jack-ass son, he won't even take Butters to the vet for me. And when I stopped driving about 7 or eight years ago I gave my ingrate son my like-new car for free. His mom is just going to have to do it after she's done working.
Poor, poor Butters....jpg

I definitely remember you living under the porch at GR's Ice Haus. Those were good times.

I believe Doc went by Doc BfG. And Harley Marlboro changed his user ID the Grand Theft Harley (Ride it like you stole it) after he lost one of LUS' weekly pickems.
There was another one at FN that came in late. He was a Horned Frog fan. Don't remember his name. DC, you might remember him, he also posted at STS while that site was still up. He started the Shorthorn Saloon to replace the Ice Haus. It's too bad GatorRobster(GR) couldn't find his way here.

Dang JD, your memory is dang good for an old fart. It was BfG and Harley did change it. Frog Fan was the TCU guy. IIRC, he lived in Granbury but grew up in Weatherford. I too wish GR were around. He was good and fun.

Butters used to do that for me too!

I guess my son is finally done 'punishing' his parents, the lazy loaf will be picking Butters up any minute for the vet, fingers crossed for Butters, middle finker raised for my son! (hehehe!)

That must be the worst part of being a vet, to put other peoples beloved pets to eternal sleep.

@TechRaiderRider Hey guess what? Remember my fiance's cousin, Heather the traveling nurse? Well she is finally coming back here at pretty much any minute. She quit that gig in Atlanta after a few days and then got a new gig in Florida and I guess it has already been 13 weeks!?! Man alive does time ever fly when ya get to be a friendly Senior!

But yep, she is finally coming back to get all her shit that she didn't take to Florida. She is staying overnight. She better have some more edibles for me or else she can sleep in the garage.

So yeah White Turkey @Wild Turkey , mowing the lawn don't make you a DIYer, capiche?

At best, I got you penciled in as a low level DunceCrafter, paste, construction paper, beads, maybe some macaroni noodles if you're feeling brave and adventurous.

Show us what you got and maybe @HammerDown will be so impressed that he will create a separate DunceCrafting forum!

There's hope for you yet!
