UNLV qb quits over NIL dispute

this is some BS man.. I ain't buying that his family hired an agent to squeeze more money out of UNLV..

their NIL/Booster/Collective probably gave assurances that have yet to be met.. Jordan Addison had the same issues at SC, but decided to continue with the season knowing he was going to the NFL

This guy isn't going to the NFL.. Give him what was agreed to
I wouldn’t dismiss it out of hand.

BTW, isn’t his season completion rate like 44% and averaging under 200 yds passing?

Just what exactly is the market for such mediocrity?

Yeah. He’s a great athlete though who can really run.

I disagree, he is seeing a payday somewhere else next season and is using the publicity from the good start to get it,

Oh, so the kid is an idiot. Shocker.

yep he's an idiot for thinking UNLV would live up to their word..

Yeah transferring specifically for money when you can't sign any contract until you are on campus is extremely risky. An assistant coach "verbally promised" him money. Was the HC aware? Was the NIL collective aware?

The whole system is fucked. Is it shitty if he truly was promised? Yes. Its also dumb to just trust someone is going to pay you 100k without anything in writing.

sure blame it on the assistant coach.. he didn't pull that out of his ass from anywhere.. lol I bet he isn't the only UNLV player that this is happening to

The guy seeing what senior qbs are getting and this is what he did. UNLV has a shot at the playoff at this point, no way they are letting $100k jeopardize that if it was even real to begin with.

Again, why schools should have no role whatsoever in NIL.
schools are supposed to vet the deal to make sure that the student athlete isn't getting hosed.. but perhaps they can't afford a compliance office for that type of stuff at UNLV?

they are broke...

Ok, so you're just going to make assumptions and blame the school no matter what? Cool. We don't even know if he was truly "verbally promised" this money. It could have been a passing comment or something along the lines of "yeah we'll see what we can done for you".

Again, its a dumbass system. 18-22 year olds aren't well known for making the smartest decisions. And you can't actually sign anything until you are on campus.

What should happen is this kid gets blackballed by other schools and never plays a down of college football again. What will happen is someone will pay him what he wants and we will officially be in a pay fo play world.
He isn’t that good either. Tough runner but his accuracy throwing is shit

We are in a classic he said she said situation and typically the truth is somewhere in the middle.

The only way the truth is going to come out is if someone sues for breach of contract and my guess is neither party wants to go through discovery or pay the legal fees.
