Urban Meyer Superthread

Assuming Urban doesn't come to Austin, what's the next move? Herman safe or is there another plan? And I mean a real plan, not the junk I read the other day about "this is Texas so Dabo is option 2 then Saban".
Dabo more likely to be the next Jets coach than Texas head coach.

Congratulation's, you're Iowa.

Nobody underachieves like tejas, NOBODY!!!!!
hey don't forget 1996 either bro.. you know ...that 10point win?

I guess I'm the next up with a "sauces" claim, but mine tell me Sam will not play for Texas again. The family source (Sam's, not mine) said he would quit if there wasn't a way to grad-xfer to Clemson. Based on what I see, there is no path for him to play for Dabo unless Texas hires him.
you are correct, if Tom is retained no way Sam comes back.. I still don't believe he would transfer to play out another season though.. Think it's too much pride for that. However if another coach is hired, I'm sure he and Sam will have a talk.

Reports: Texas Eyeing James Franklin If Urban Meyer Says No (thespun.com)

Also, Heupel
Chip
Kif
and Gary Patterson will be in the mix.
I swear if it's Gary Fn Patterson.. I may just be a UTSA fan at that point..

He has had 4 losing seasons out of the past 5 seasons. His highest point since being in the Big 12 was his terrific team in 2014, but since then it's gone downhill. He can't find a good QB or offense since Boykin left despite good prospects coming in. He's fools gold right now and would be a terrible fit at UT.

Chip? lol PASS

Kliff? He hates recruiting and he loves the NFL

Heupel? Another G5 coach?

Franklin? I'm scared he's going to oil snake his way into the ears of the search committee. Guy still can't find offense, pass.

Have no idea who they will land on but man Tom has to go or we are about to be at a tremendous talent disadvantage based off the 21 and the projected 22 class

Would Hugh Freeze appeal to you and your longhorn ilk? Would he even say yes?

NO one is going to draft Ehl. You’d think they’d learn their lesson from Tebow.

Not saying Texas should necessarily, but I'm surprised Bill O'Briens name hasn't come up in any coaching searches. He flamed out in the NFL for sure but he had Penn State looking pretty good with some extreme disadvantages while he was there. Hackenburg actually looked like a good QB

Is texas really going to pay a $25 Million buyout to get another mediocre coach?

My thoughts exactly. But I was assured by @Thiefery and @Codaxx that there is no point keeping Herman if he doesn’t make the boosters and fans happy.

No one will admit it, but every single factor points to hiring back Mack Brown immediately for a short stint. Hell, I don’t even want to admit it.

My money says you would see RC Slocum coaching in Austin before a Mack reunion.

Oh Frost's first season at QB?

Arizona St sacked him for 3 safeties and beat Nebraska 19-0 that season.

Y'all were undefeated, already penciled in for the BCS championship game and Texas ran down the throat of the black shirts.. NE was never the same after that. Hell Ricky then won his Heisman by handing y'all the first #L at home in I forgot what the streak was at that point... Texas underachieved and were huge dogs both games

Yeah he has to go. if they keep him we'll have another transition class for the second straight class in '22. I don't know who exactly they bring in but it needs to be fresh blood. I highly doubt Tom really wants to be here anyways after knowing he has no support from anyone important.

Yeah, Tom Herman is a swing and a miss but that Athletic Director is really something else. Chris Del Conte is waddling around the 40 Acres like he's got an ass full of yogurt. He kicks his head football coach in the wedding tackle then just stands there slurring sweet nothings to the Horns faithful. Dude has a bulldog mouth and a puppy dog ass. Texas needs to give that bitch the bolt too.
