Urban thinks tOSU has most talented roster in CFB

Florida just has a crazy schedule this year.
Miami, A&M, Georgia, Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, and FSU to name a few. It’s preseason, so you never know how these things turn out, but that maybe the toughest schedule I have ever seen.

At some point wins and losses should still matter though, some years you get saddled with a tougher schedule than others, its part of the game.

I would not make that argument for someone like Missouri or ND this year

Also lol @ counting A&M and Miami as tough games. 2 teams that went 7-6 last year and constantly get preseason hype that never amounts to reality.

Just included ranked teams in preseason. You want to compare OSU vs Florida’s?

Miami looks pretty damn good to Akron, Western Michigan, and Marshall

Preseason rankings mean dick, especially when it comes to Cryami and A&M. Seems like they both are rated every year and never meet the expectation.
based on your deflection, I assume you don’t want to compare

It's not a deflection I just don't care.

Talk to me about Strength of Schedule when the season is actually over and we see how teams actually perform, not based off some preseason rankings that constantly prop up teams that probably don't really deserve to be propped up.

We are going to see the argument every year about how some 3 or even 4 loss SEC teams should be in over 1 or 2 loss teams.

Given Florida and to a lesser extent Oklahoma, I'd say a 3 loss Florida should definitely get in. But not all SEC schedules are equal. A 3 loss Missouri for example shouldn't get in. I'd say a 3 loss USC should have an outside shot as well.

It really depends on how everything else would shake out as well. Like I said talk to me about SOS at the end of the season, not based off of preseason rankings.

Yep. Should have beaten Clemson in the Semi IMO. They were the better team, but had to settle for a lot of FG's. Them and 2019 LSU might have been the best two teams of that decade.
The biggest what-if's from that year (aside from the horrendous officiating vs. Clemson) are about if Fields hadn't gotten hurt late in the year and Dobbins being dinged up against Clemson, even though he still gashed them. With those two fully healthy, I don't see anyone beating them. LSU had a slightly better offense, but OSU's defense would've been the difference.

I knew ND's wasn't too swift. I hadn't looked at Mizzou's. SEC schedulers were good to them for the most part.

I'd add Rutgers in there. No tOSU, no Michigan, no Oregon, no Penn State. While not "awful" they play mostly middle/lower tier B1G teams. Because of that, their schedule looks Big 12/ACCish.

The other one that stood out to me was Utah. They avoid both Kansas schools and West Virginia. They get Zona in SLC. Only hiccups might be in Stoolwater or Ames. That gives them the best chance to play at Jerry's world in December IMHO.

Even if Miami and A&M are 6 or 7 win teams, Florida's overall SOS is still probably going to be #1. They don't have really any games to drag their SOS down. Sure Miss State will be bad, but that's no different than any other bottom feeder conference team. Lets say they hypothetically lost to UGA, Texas and FSU. That means they'd have wins over Ole Miss, LSU, A&M, Miami and Tennessee. Not all those teams are going to be mediocre/average. Even if only 3 of them are ranked at the end of the year, I think that will be more than other teams in the discussion for those last couple spots.

Them against LSU would have been incredible. Would have been high scoring for sure.

What if its down to a 9-3 Florida vs like a 1 loss Big 12 or ACC school for the last spot. You really gonna put a 3 loss team in over a 1 loss team?

Losses should count at some point.

I've seen worse, but that is brutal.

If Florida is 5-3 against top 25 competition and the Big 12/ACC team is like 1-1 or 0-1, I'd probably pick Florida. But it would also depend on how that Big 12 or ACC team has performed during the season.

The answer is it depends, but I certainly would. It is 9-3 Florida vs 10-2 team it is probably an easy call for Florida. 11-1 would be a debate. That obviously depends on projections being accurate for Floridas SOS. I am glad the larger playoff is here. I hope it encourages and rewards teams for playing a tough schedule

All this talk about Florida being 9-3 is laughable anyway, we all know they will be 6-6 or 7-5 at best come the end of the year.
I think UF has a losing record an an interim coach in the final game of the season.

It really doesnt, for the bigger programs why play a tougher schedule and risk more losses? The easier the road to 0 or 1 regular season losses the easier the road to the playoff.

The argument against scheduling was 1 loss could knock you out. That isn’t the case anymore. You schould want a solid OOC game to prepare for the conference slate. Ohio State is going to go into October without knowing what kind of team they have.
