USC and Oregon To B1G rumor....

Other than fans like me, no one will ask UT to kiss the ring. But the SEC won't kiss UT's ass either, and that's what UT is normally used to. The only favoritism you hear is Bama, and that's just envy for the most part.
oh, but they have.. everyone knew when they (SEC) were talking to Arkansas/South Carolina about expansion.. same thing when aggy and then Mizzu had discussions.. But it took a pissed off booster who got wind of what was going on, to leak it to the Houston Chronicle for the world to find out what was happening.

Why all the discretion?

No they haven't and no they won't. You make no sense ... the fact they didn't discuss the TX/OU move is evidence that the SEC was kissing UT's ass? GTFOH ... the most likely reason was (1) to make sure none of the other conferences heard about before it was final, and (2) to wait until after the CFP expansion was completed. There are many more explanations far more credible than "the SEC was kissing UT's ass."

Oregon

Flying from Portland to Phoenix is 2 hours, 35 minutes.
Flying from Portland to Minneapolis is 3 hours, 15 minutes.

Not exactly a huge difference.
They aren't flying girl's basketball, track, swimming, gymnastics, Lacross, soccer, wrestling, baseball, softball, ect ect ect so yeah it's a massive deal.

How exactly do you think that sports teams get from Tucson (Arizona) to Pullman WA? Drive? 21 hr 42 min (1,334.6 mi) via US-93 N. Yes, they fly unless it's a very short trip that can be bused.

You must not travel for a living ... I see sports teams in airports all the time. Just had the NC State Men's Tennis team on my flight from Atlanta to Raleigh.

I don't think some of the people here have been on planes before.

To me it will be more of an issue for fans. But the PAC is already spread out all over the place. As I pointed out above, it's 1,334 miles from U of Ariz to Wash State.

how long is the flight from portland to maryland? how about happy valley?
It's longer for sure. My guess is you will see the teams play more in divisions so as to minimize travel. They also might go more to tournaments in the lesser sports where teams play over 3 days, multiple teams in one location.

I don't think it's a trivial issue, but the B12, ACC, and the PAC already have huge gaps between their teams. They will have to get more creative in how to lessen that.

I think how close teams are to a major airport is more of an issue than distance...unless teams charter or have their own planes. Big difference between flight situations for TCU and Baylor. If Baylor goes commercial, they are going to DFW to make connections to get where they are going. TCU originates from there. Same could be said for Arizona and Arizona State. Phoenix has many more direct flights than Tucson.

When Lee Trevino was asked why he was moving from El Paso to Dallas his answer was something like "Because with modern air travel, if you wanted to go to hell you'd have to go through Dallas. I might as well start out there." (Which was mainly humor because Dallas was his home town.

How many teams charter for sports other than football? I know I've been on Southwest Airline flights twice with the Texas baseball team heading to Lubbock from Austin. So I'm assuming they fly commercial.

For Texas, they take buses for road games at TCU, Baylor and vs ou (Dallas). They fly out to the rest of the schools in the conference. So having three games on the road that you can take a charter bus is a huge bonus.

Although approach this with caution but I will say that an obscure leak first gave us the hint of OU and Texas to SEC and no one believe it

Beat Nebraska the last time we played them. Also our loss to Nebraska was Oregon's worse team in about 2 decades, congrats.

Funny how you guys say that but love to talk about your two wins against two of the worse teams in Tennessee's history when we had first year coaches (Derek Dooley and Butch Jones in their first year).

it could work, it would be strange a little bit, but it could work.. grab the LA schools, stanford, Cal, Udub,Oregon and Colorado. Big winner in this mix could be the Big12 who at that point, could poach ASU, AZ, and Utah

BiG West/Pacific
SC
UCLA
Stanford
UDub
Cal
Oregon
CU

Weird part would be that the cross over games would not happy very often since a deal like this probably guarantees the 9 game conference schedule. Just gotta rotate 2 games vs schools in the other divisions every season (No home and home). You keep divisions for schedule sake, however you just throw out the top 2 schools regardless of divisions in the CCG. With something like this, they would have a few at large bids with the expanded playoff model.

Just wonder at the end of the day if the money is worth this headache? Or will the BiG put pressure on the ACC and eventually get Duke, UVA..maybe FSU?

West Virginia travels nearly that far. But USC to Rutgers is definitely across the country.
I would be ok if in exchange for USC and Oregon they booted Rutgers and Maryland

Seeing that we went into the Horsehoe and beat Ohio State? Given that we beat Michigan the last time we played them and we simply don't lose to Wisconsin. Yes please, let's go.
