USC and UCLA planning to leave for B10 by 2024!

Fuck Notre Dame. I used to hate QB's who wore the blue jerseys and were untouchable. But I REALLY hated the kickers who were over there sitting in the shade filling their ball bags about 1 ball per minute while they drank water. Those were the Notre Dame clones. Anybody else with me here on this Notre Dame special status BS? If they don't want to play by the same rules as the rest of us then let them take their chances.

LOLLL. ND is sitting pretty right now. If they play their cards right, they may even be able to negotiate a deal to still play their home games on NBC.

I don't disagree with you. Geography plays a big role in it and that still keeps the leagues unbalanced. Getting USC can really help as they have higher potential than the rest of the B1G to get back to Ohio State and SEC Elite level. So you will have at least two possibly programs instead of one.

However, you have to be kidding yourselves if you don't believe the SEC went from 5-6 Elite teams (depending on how you look at Tennessee as our reputation is tarnished) to now 7-8 elite teams. Oklahoma and Texas are ELITE programs and they are in geographically favorable locations.
I agree the SEC has 5 or 6 elite programs and no -- Tennessee is definitely not one of those elite programs. That'd be like saying Nebraska is an elite program right now. If it were the 1990's -- then yeah, they are elite, but CFB changed and it didn't help either program in the least bit.

In the end though -- it is Bama carrying the torch for the SEC. Teams have popped up here or there, like when LSU had Burrow, Auburn had Cam, etc. -- But it is Bama who made the SEC what it is right now in football. UT and OU are historical programs, but neither has won much of anything as of late. OU got to be Big 12 rep in the playoff a couple times, but that is where it ended for them. Texas has been terrible.

Not really. SEC hype started in 2003 but really picked up in 2006. The Florida beatdown of Ohio State in 2006 really started it off. The SEC then went on to win titles until 2012. That streak included 4 different schools. To say it is all Alabama is kind of silly. Also, had Alabama not been there, other SEC schools would have been in the mix such as LSU in 2011, Florida in 2009, Georgia in 2017, etc.

It has been a while for Tennessee. The only confidence that I have as a Tennessee fan is that we can sometimes recruit like a 5-star program. We did with Butch Jones and we really weren't that far off, take 2015 where our 4 losses came down to 1-2 plays. Get a little bit of luck and we are a playoff team that year: 2015 Tennessee Football Schedule | FBSchedules.com

So there is the potential but definitely I put us on that iffy list. A lot of it has been poor administration and poor coaching. If Tennessee can figure both out, that may change.

OU and Texas are definitely a good coach away from being elite programs (similar to USC). I do think USC Trojans might struggle a little in B1G with long road trips. West Virginia has really struggled in the Big12 not having a close neighbor.

Overall, though, I think all of this is bad for College Football in general. The sport was a far better product back in the 1990s when the talent was more evenly dispersed across the nation.

I'm sick of ND's prima donna treatment. But I have to admit the ND fans were super to us the last time we played in South Bend. Very polite, good sports and respectful. The ND fans are great; it's the ND administration that grilles my cheese.

and fuck Rudy

When USC is doing well, SoCal is suuuuuuch huuuuuuge college football fans. You should have seen the Leinart/Bush era. Appalling :puke:

I had a massive thread about that topic. I tend to agree with your post. USC has to win to make bank. If they don't win, you will see empty stadiums. It is just like Miami (although I think USC has a better\more loyal fanbase than Miami)

USC has a bigger fanbase. I hesitate to use words like "better" or "more loyal" in discussions of USC fans.

Well for one, USC actually has posters on most Sports Message Boards. When is the last time a Miami fan made an appearance anywhere? Granted, I do run into Miami fans but they definitely don't fill their stadium unless they are a top ten team.

Irish are going to do what’s best for them financially, but so is OU.
