You got me.. I don't know.. Texas was picked high but they lost two arms and they struggled with the bullpen pretty much the whole season. Not sure if they would have qualified if they were in the SEC. As far as ou, they got off to a rocky start, they corrected and finished hot.. I think they would have had a good shot at being Ole Miss being the last to qualify for the post season

You don't make me mad. I just disagree with your broad definition of Elite. Wisconsin is nor Elite. Penn State is not elite. A&M is not Elite. LSU is no longer Elite. Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State are Elite. They are in natty conversation every year.

Fair enough. I think the focus is also on last 2-3 years instead of the two decades which I have mentioned since the initial post. Taking 2000-2022 time frame as a whole, LSU definitely belongs. I can see the argument for Florida who had really a strong run from 2005-2009 and has had some other great teams but really hasn't been that elite since 2009. I was surprised Dan Mullen didn't work out, his early teams started to look like the Urban Meyer teams.

Edit: The big elephant in the room for Wisconsin is the Green Bay Packers. Packers just dominate the Football/Sports discussion in your state and probably for good reasons as they are one of the biggest Pro Sports Franchises. I feel like the Badgers live in their shadow.

I don't know what it is with Baseball and the #1 seed. That seems like the kiss of death.

Getting a 1 seed in Men's Basketball tends to be rough lately as well. (Interestingly, Tennessee has never had a 1 seed in March Madness).

One conference trip to to West coast per year for Nebraska and Iowa - not a bad thing for fans.

Just have one more OOC game. If there is an expanded playoff, why have conference tournament/championship because it potentially can ruin the overall W/L records of 3 B1G teams? Just my opinion.

Remove one season of Russell Wilson and Wiscy has been an elite QB away from winning a Big 10 championship many years since the mid 2000's or so.

I suppose one could also add in a decent OC in there.
Point being they haven't been far off.

One thought about Oregon in the Pac12. Oregon really isn't that close to Los Angeles. The distance is similar to South Carolina or Florida playing Texas A&M or Texas (which is some of the longer road trips in the SEC).

Geographically, Oregon doesn't provide that much of a closer opponent for travel purposes for UCLA and USC. This might be why Arizona teams have been in the discussion as well.

Definitely the constant long road games may hurt USC and UCLA similar to how they are hurting West Virginia in the Big12. However, at least they are a two-team instead of one-team combo.

Pac12 is pretty geographically spread out. This might be another reason the Pac12 tends to have more chaos in the league and less Elite teams. There is also not a lot of local teams to play OOC. I know this had to hurt the league both Financially and Competitively.

The time zone has been the biggest detriment to the PAC.

Most people east of the Rockies are pretty well drunk and footballed out by 9pm (CT) 10pm (ET). Their attention has shifted to Susy Rottencrotch.

No. And OU wouldn't have been able to stick its ass in the air and shout "Come and get it, boys!' again when a National Championship was on the line. 4 CFP losses, the worst loss in NCAA finals history and then this choke job when the pitchers were throwing the ball into the third row of the stands all of a sudden. OU men's sports just don't win NC's when it's right there in front of them. But the women? Wow. If this is a cycle I'm ready for it to end.
