NIL and the portal have made keeping depth so much harder. Quality kids just won't sit behind other players anymore. Can't really blame them either.

I know a lot of people have said high school recruiting is no longer important because of the portal. However, if you want to build up quality depth in your program, it's still really the only way to do that. It's why most of the top teams continue to have the best prep recruiting classes annually.

I agree. Recruiting is still the life blood of the sport. The portal allows you to fill some gaps where you've missed in your evaluations or bring in elite players.
