GAME UTEP vs Oklahoma 3:30 on FOX

Our D gets a C on that drive. We allowed them to eat clock and march. But shut it down eventually. Not pretty, but passing. Our O needs a nice sustained drive here to do same.

I like Gabriel's QB IQ in getting down when he's gotten what he can on the run.

Gabriel is no Kyler Murray, obviously, but he is a good enough threat to run to help keep a defense honest.

I said sustained drive. Damn boys are too efficient! Not even 2 minutes.

Yeah. He's not strong like Hurts. Not fast like Kyler. Not as elusive as Baker. Definitely better than Rattler at running. And won't mention the bitch that traveled west.

I'm fine with him being able to snag 5-10 yards when needed, avoiding hits.

This is more of a tune up game. Defense is being pretty conservative. Nothing over the top and keeping everything in front of them.
Every now and then they send a blitz but not much to show anything.

Guess we'll have to try for a TD. Or maybe a FG. He hasn't got an attempt yet all "season"! :airquotes:

There's 100 yards for Gray.
Putting on some more muscle has helped him a lot. Last season when he got hit, he went down. Now he can make some guys miss. Brooks had so much patience and run IQ. Gray seems to have learned a bit of that. Major is a smasher.

So, covered. Not a bad debut for a rebuild. Seems the boys have bought in to the Venables era. I think each week we'll see significant progress. As stated above, we only used chapter one of the book today. Won't see much more until NU or KSU.
