With Opening Day upon us, it reminded me that it seems baseball players are the most superstitious around. What superstitions or old wives' tales are in your playbook?
For me, I can't seem to break the habit of tossing a bit of salt over my left shoulder whenever I spill it. I don't open umbrellas in the house or walk under ladders except on Friday the thirteenth (I feel like it's opposite day then) and if a black cat crosses my path on that day, I will try to pet it. I know some of you are weirder than me, so spill 'em!

Will not use a yellow lighter.

The only superstition I had playing baseball was jumping over the foul line. I may have had a routine as a pitcher, but wouldn't call them a superstition.

Don't think I have one in real life, but I'm sure I'll be more aware in the days to come, so I'll report back if I find any.

I used to only keep volumes on either multiples of 5 or even numbers. I've gotten better about that, though. Just try not to pay attention to it.

Shit. Mine is odd numbers, 7, multiples of 7, 13, 26 or 32. Same for stopping the microwave. Any of those or it goes to zero, burned or not.

Okay, fine. I am retarded.

Can't switch ballcaps during a winning streak. All other hats are dead to me until we lose. As a Royals fan, I wear a lot of different hats.

Gotta wear a blue Patriots golf shirt or hoodie on game day and gotta change it to a red or white one if they're losing at the half. Went through a lot of laundry last year :L

Another was, I could only where my red throwback Brady jersey if the Pats were in the SB. This became a SB only jersey. The white road jersey was 0-3.

I have zero superstitions, but I do have slight traditions.

But after the Brewers came back to win in extras on a walk-off throw to the plate, I might not change my boxers the rest of the season.

Does that count?

TMI but as long as it works...

Wouldn't call it a superstition or anything but I only really like even numbers

Exactly me when I played too. And I never even pitched. I just picked up “step over the foul line” from someone every time I went on the field.

I always put my left sock and left shoe on first.

I only use the Betty White fleshlight, no exceptions.
