This is nonsense. He's UGA's winningest coach. He won SECCs before Hershel, which was not easy to do with a coach by the name of Bear Bryant over in Tuscaloosa. He was also the head of NCAA rules committees, coaches' organizations, etc., and was the AD that hired Mark Richt.

fwiw, UGA finished ranked in the final AP rankings twelve times in Dooley's 25 seasons. He was a good coach, but definitely over-rated by UGA fans.
