How do all of these "geniuses" making a fortune standing on sidelines keep screwing up the most basic things? In that situation if you use a timeout on offense you can't get the ball back without recovering the kick. Which means that if you're down two scores you absolutely have to throw the ball on 1st and Goal. And 2nd. And 3rd.
