War, what is it good for? Other than good movies that is. What are your top war movies?

Damnit man….good one. Absolutely loved Waltz in IB and Django. His play as Hans Landa was absolute fire from the first scene with the French dairy farmer to his branding at the end

Difference I guess is that Waltz was an actor that just popped with Tarantino, and F Lee was just a consultant who (I don’t believe) had acted before, in my mind anyway.
Barkhad Abdi.

Granted, he hasn’t done much since, but he was basically a taxi driver before Captain Phillips.

Nice one. I admittedly just haven’t watched this movie yet….but I sure know “look at me….I’m the captain now”. Just snipets I’ve seen he is bad ass! Didn’t know his back story.

No one giving love to The Patriot?

Idc, that was a good movie, Mel is the man.

It was his first acting gig. Ever.

He wasn’t even an aspiring actor. He was driving a limo for one of the producers (or something like that) and he had the look they wanted for the role, so they gave him a shot. Ended up getting nominated for best supporting actor.

Never met Tom Hanks or the rest of the American crew prior the filming of the overtaking of the ship scene.

And he absolutely owns that scene.

Saw it in a theatre in South Carolina.

The whole theater stood and clapped. Lol

I thought it was was ridiculous to be sitting there watching The Patriot, starring a couple Aussies on the American side. And British dudes playing crazy war criminals on the other. It’s a shitty movie to me. More propaganda than story.

1. Fury
2. War of the Worlds
3. Independence Day
4. Apocalypse Then
5. Apocalypse Now and Then

10. Superman Finger Bangs Lois Lane

Can’t believe Patton wasn’t mentioned till the second page.

Has anyone mentioned “The Longest Day”?

What about “Midway” (the original)?

I wouldn’t say “Casualties of War” is a great “war movie” but it did have a phenomenal cast and was a pretty good movie.

"Dunkirk"

Hell, I even liked the Midway remake.

Haven’t seen The Big Red One listed yet. Or Battleground.

Only one mention of Das Boot?

Starship Troopers
Very interesting take on the book. The book was very serious, yet the movie was almost a satire.

But I liked it nonetheless…

The Sand Pebbles is my favourite McQueen. And Attenborough might be even better in it.
