Perhaps my view of the book is biased by the order I read Heinlein's work. I know I read Stranger in a Strange Land before Starship Troopers. Since Stranger is an ode to Individualism, I may have went into Starship Troopers leaning that way.

Nonetheless, the movie still is great satire done in a mediocre way.
