‘I’ve been to Buffalo a few times. Never in the snow (thank God). It was pretty dreary when the weather was nice. Can’t imagine it in these conditions

Same, I've been a few times but always from May to July, when it's lovely.

first time I ever went to Buffalo was just a few weeks after 9/11. I flew from Boston to Buffalo (about 1.5 hrs). Boston was one of the last airports to open after 9/11 so it had just reopened. I’m a seasoned traveler so I know to get to the airport early, what seats to get, etc.

So I get to the airport early and it’s surprisingly dead. I go directly to the counter and ask “if the exit aisle is available I’d like to switch my seat to that. The gate agent gives me a smirk and says “I’ll check”. She says “yup… you’re in luck. It’s available”. I get my boarding pass breeze thru security and make my way to the gate. When I get there it’s virtually empty.

They start boarding and there are literally 4 people on this flight. The plane is about 30 rows but the only people on it are this old couple at the bulkhead, me on one exit aisle and another guy (obviously a seasoned traveler) across the aisle from me and a woman sitting behind us.

The door is about to close when this middle eastern kid (probably in his mid 20s) gets on the plane carrying a backpack. He’s putting his bag in the overhead and I’m just watching him. I look to my right and I can see the guy across the aisle looking at him too. This kid sits down and me and the other guy just give each other a nod. If this poor kid had gone to the bathroom me and this guy probably would have tackled him. Haha.

Kid never got up. Flight went smooth. Every now and then I’d look up the aisle and I saw the guy across from me do the same. When the plane lands this guy and I just give each other another nod.

I’m not proud of the above but it was a very different time flying in the weeks immediately following 9/11

It's amazing how many similar stories I've heard about traveling right after 9/11 and there being a passenger who looked middle eastern or was obviously muslim.

Yeah man. I flew a lot back then. I was on a plane on 9/11. It was different flying back then. Things were so different.

Well they’re used to it so they can handle it. I grew up about 1/2 way between Syracuse and Albany and you’d have to have several inches falling before they’d even consider canceling classes.

The dreary part is funny because a Buffalo suburb volunteered to have their street lights completely solar. Of course that area has so few sunny days it failed spectacularly.
 
Waking up to sunshine today. It looks like this thing has moved to the north side of Watertown. Predictions are saying maybe a trace today, so I'm guessing the worst is behind us.

One that I know of in this area. Some poor 40 something year old was on his way to work and stopped at an intersection like he was supposed to when a 22 year old who couldn't stop and rammed the guy right into oncoming traffic and a tractor trailer T-boned the guy on the driver side. Killed him dead.

The 22 year old and the truck driver had no injuries.

There have been reports of a couple people having heart attacks while shoveling. That always seems to happen, even in light snow.

Glad to hear it has mostly moved on

These snowstorms are never a problem if people are able to stay home and wait them out. It's people that have to go to a job during one that are at great risk.

Snowstorms make for great pictures and news, but they are not like hurricanes and tornados where nature is opening houses like a can of beans.

Everyone needs to slow down is all.
