Holy shit:

Hotel and Airbnb prices are insane for Alabama/Texas game.

Rooms at the Embassy Suites on Hotels.com are nearly $5,000 for a Friday and Saturday night. Hotel Capstone will cost more than $4,500 for the two nights. A total of 15 Tuscaloosa area hotels are currently charging at least $1,000 for a Friday and Saturday night stay for the game.

That includes an Econo Lodge. You know the situation is getting tight when an Econo Lodge is charging $1,037 for two nights. There are also more than 40 hotels in the area already sold out.

Now, some of you might be thinking an Airbnb is the play with hotel prices being so high. Prepare to spend plenty of cash on that as well.

Below is a map of some listings in the area. The one listed for just under $4,000 comes out to $9,410 with taxes and fees.

I have seen a similar situation. While I'm not a Dallas Cowboy fan at all, I'd be willing to bet that El Paso has/had a higher percentage of citizens that were Cowboy fans than Dallas does. A local talked Jerry into having a controlled intersquad scimmage in the Sun Bowl one year. It sold out in 1/2 day...for a frickin' controlled intersquad scrimmage. Not a pre season game or a scrimmage with another team.

I say all that as a set up to this. El Paso is 200 miles closer to Phoenix than Dallas. Soooooooooo, when the Cowboys play the Cardinals in Zona, the stadium is usually 60-70% Cowboy fans... most of which are from El Paso. It never fails.
There is no higher percentage of Cowboys fans than in the RGV. So I assume El Paso is somewhat close, but those upper river trash have strange ties to Los Angeles teams.
So, it’s RIO GRANDE VALLEY all the way.

Pitada en la southmost!!

There is a significant number of native El Pasoans in Califa for sure. But I doubt they are Rams or Charger fans.

yeah tell me about it.. the messed up part is that UT fans had booked rooms a year ago.. those places all canceled their reservations and were asking for double

It's the only thing I hate about small college cities, they drive up the prices because of demand.. when fans of opposing places come to Austin, they won't get gouged like this because of the amount of hotels/motels and air bnbs located there

Turkey had some good locations for you.

Here’s a link to some pretty good bars in the downtown Birmingham area. Carrigan’s Public House is a good one, older part to town that has seen a good bit of remodeling and redevelopment. They’ve got a awesome rooftop bar.

But if you get down to Avondale, a small suburban in Birmingham. The Avondale brewery makes good beer and right down the street is Cahaba brewery. plenty of places to eat in Avondale. If you like barbecue, we’ve got plenty of those places around town as well. Just don’t go looking for the best brisket, as we are more of a pork and chicken barbecue State

Say what? They had to move the state basketball tournament out of Austin because of hotel prices!

So... I saw where Turkey posted a brewery called Ferus in Trussville, AL. I live about 20 minutes from there. If Bama loses & you come to Ferus, I'll meet you there & buy you a drink. But, if Texas loses......

The one I posted was in Avondale.

Thanks for the recommendations Avondale signs like a good spot since my friends and I are all in our early to mid 40s.. Keep it simple with brewery spots. If not today, definetley Sunday to watch opening day of the NFL.
