Bookie:
$ 1,000.00
From the dude who did The Wire, David Simon

looking forward to this one

Looks a little too much like it's going to be if not for whitey there would be no crime or issues in Baltimore.

or it's based off a book of the same name

but you seem to want to make your own narrative out of it....

This show is great. Lot of Wire actors popping up in roles, a few far different from what they were in the Wire.

Bernthal is fucking awesome. Never a bad idea to let him carry the load.

I will watch this, but will wait to binge

I’ve been liking this. I don’t read it as signaling fodder at all like I worried it would be. It lays down just what the issues are and just how tough they are to sort through.

Ok, I finished this. Powerful. I think this did a good job of representing both sides of policing issues. Certainly as good as you can expect these days.

I felt I got a good feel for both sides, and then the story told within reminded me…..it just doesn’t matter in this case.

What these guys did was unequivocally wrong, and I think anyone that views it can agree with that. It transcends the issues, even as the show touches on all the issues at hand right now in this story.

Berenthal was insanely good. Wayne Jenkins took me on a Henry Hill ride, enjoy his ride and cluck at him when he’s caught. It’s just that much worse since the real Wayne Jenkins was a cop, a well decorated cop.

Highly recommended watch here. The six episodes were perfect. Not too little, not too much.

On ep 3 right now. I keep expecting Michael K Williams to show up.

Is there anyone from The Wire not in this thing?

Unfortunately No MKW and this was before he passed, so he was never gonna be in it

Bernthal is a goddamn acting powerhouse

I have been saying that for years.

I’ve known of him since early Walking Dead and was impressed with him then. Always liked everything I’ve come across him in.

All that said….it’s still important to say….he absolutely blew it all away in this show. Just about every scene was fire. He even had the accent down, not an easy one to do consistently.

It is a subtle “twang” that he seemed to hold throughout the series. There were only a couple characters who even attempted it in the Wire.

And even less in this show. That might have made it stand out more.

Just started watching it a couple nights ago. 2 episodes in and it's pretty good but it could definitely do without the forced wokeness and Hillary love/Trump hate.

I also can't at all buy the one kid from The Wire that was out in the original courtyard sofa in the projects in season 1 of The Wire now being some detective character in this show. Besides the fact that he is very short he just looks high all the time. That worked perfectly for his character on The Wire but all I can think about with him in this show is his high dopey character on The Wire. Doesn't help that so far in two episodes he plays a seemingly dopey detective.

It is based on a true story, so the Hillary love coming from the BPD is actually pretty accurate. Not surprising that a bunch of corrupt governmental higherups are all in love with Hillary, though.

the Wire stunt casting goes on throughout the entire show. Get used to it.

Felt the same way. Detective Poot isn’t involved as much as you go though.

I only remember the one new lawyer from the civil rights division of the justice department commenting on Hillary. And the big boned girl kinda telling him to slow his roll and wait for the election.

But I couldn’t stand either of those shitfuck candidates, so not much impact for me without a rooting interest.

Herk the borderline retard being head of the police Union made me laugh.
