We skeered ...

There are a lot of UGA fans who want the UF game to go to a home and away format. Some are saying rotate - Jax, Atlanta, home, away. Some feel there is a home field advantage for UF in that Jax is an hour from Gainesville, 5 hours from Athens. I've never seen that, to be honest. Crowd is always 50/50.

Smart wants it home and away as he thinks it gives up a recruiting weekend.
The clap is airborne in Gainesville. Best keep it in Jacksonville. Also we don’t need Gaytor trash in Athens.

This guy's an idiot. The reason is that you don't play an away game if you don't have a guaranteed return game. There might be more reasons that OU and TX are coming in early, but this isn't one of them. The idea that these games would be canceled has been discussed since the decision was made for them to come into the SEC.

The SEC told Georgia and Tennessee to cancel the series... that is suspicious. If Georgia and Tennessee had cancelled the series on their own, I would agree with you.

They are doing it so that the SEC can set the schedule in 2025, and not have to work around an OU @ UGA in 2031, as an example. If you follow me, OU would be @ UGA in 2031, and in 2025 when they start the every other year schedule, the SEC would be constrained to have to make that game work. They don't want that limitation. It's why they didn't ask UA v. TX to be canceled... the series is done before the new schedule is created.

It is more than just football games if you have been paying attention. OU basketball dropped out of Battle of Atlantis for 2023 because Arkansas was in that tournament (you can't have two teams from same tournament so it is very suspicious. If your 2025 is still correct, explain that one? Why quit a 2023 Basketball Tournament?

I don't give a fuck about some basketball tournament in the Bahamas in 2023, LOL. So, no, I haven't "been following that closely." C'mon, man. I know you guy are a basketball school now, but we all don't waste our time following obscure hoops tournaments in a year.

The idea that OOC games between SEC teams and TX/OU where the return game wasn't going to happen until after they joined the conference has been talked about since right after the announcement.

As I said, it's possible all this happens before 2025. But trying to read into this announcement that the move is imminent is some serious Area 51 shit.

That all makes sense.
The return game for Texas @ Alabama next year means OU/Texas won't be tin the Conference in 2023, or the Conference will just absorb that game into the scheduling .

I feel like this wouldn't be as hard as you make it seem. They could move that game in 31 to whatever year they wanted to once OU was in conference.

you follow how many different paid sites? And call perhaps the biggest early season basketball tournament obscure? I get it, you don't follow men's hoops but the Battle 4 Atlantis is not "an obscure hoops tournament"

It doesn't fit his argument.

I still tend to lean more towards 2024 but that is a very GLARING fact that Oklahoma backed out of that tournament. The key thing about these basketball tournament is that you cannot have 2 teams from same conference. So OU dropping out of a basketball tournament with another SEC team in it at the last minute in 2023 is suspicious. The guy I posted follows OU far better than @WhosYourDawggy so I think there is some weight here to these rumors.

There have also been cancellation of volleyball, baseball, and softball series between SEC and OU/Texas.

That all makes sense.

Or it just hasn't been cancelled yet as well.

Actually I know what this means. Oklahoma to SEC in 2023, Texas to SEC in 2025 :dhd:

That would be hilarious.

Conspiracy Theory Time!

Greg McElroy said on the radio this morning that it's possible canceling the Georgia vs Oklahoma game is a big FU to CBS. Texas vs Alabama pulled in a 10mm+ rating for FOX and it's safe to assume that Georgia vs Oklahoma would do similar numbers so it is not out of the question that the SEC wants to delay this rating juggernaut for their new package.

I don't know that I buy into this 100% but it is a compelling theory.

Still helpful that you posted. A lot of rumors out there.

I am still leaning at 2024 being the year. I think 2023 is still too aggressive (frankly we will find out before end of season if 2023 is going to happen). 2025 just seems too late as well. I think they would buy out the 2024 year to get things going.

The rumors as to why Big12 may want OU and Texas gone is to make room for additional teams from Pac12. Still just rumors.

This can't be true. I was assured Fox can't promote college football games
