On our last trail yesterday we came upon a family that were all crying uncontrollably and yelling at each other. Parents and two teenage/college kids.

“We have to go home now!!!! He’s dead!”

“Of course we have to go home, but there’s nothing we can do right now!!”

They must’ve gotten some sporadic cell coverage and got a text about someone dying that they were all obviously very close to. But they were damn near in the middle of a 3-mile hike that they obviously had to finish and then you have to ride a series of shuttles to get out, not to mention either driving or flying home. There’s not a good place to find out someone close to you died, but that might be one of the worst places.

Can’t stop thinking about them.

Getting bad news while on vacation sucks. We were in NC last year when I got a call from my uncle about my dad almost dying.

I texted my buddy who moved to Vegas that the most annoying part of him going to vegas is to not have another degenerate to go track with.

I have other friends that will go, but they're generally there for people watching, a beer, maybe a bet or two.....

Just received word that my 10th grandkid is in the oven. Take out in January and let rest a couple hours.
