Season didn't get off to a good start. Doesn't look like we have the pitching to compete. We'll see how it goes.

The other team ran out pitchers who were throwing hard and throwing strikes. I've got maybe two I feel good like that, the rest of the kids are a work in progress. It's town ball, so even if we suck, it's not the end of the world.Complete against who though

10-11. Most of my kids are 10. I have 2 11s. One might turn into my best pitcher, but he's only played baseball for 2 years. As far as I know, most of my kids don't just play baseball, which I think is great. Pretty sure the better pitchers on the other teams in the league get year round private instruction. What age level is this?
Slink Jr's first HS game last night. Mercy'ed their opponent, SP pitched complete game (5 IP) and Jr went 2-2 with a BB, R and RBI.Season didn't get off to a good start. Doesn't look like we have the pitching to compete. We'll see how it goes.

In my opinion you are doing a great job if you aren’t out there wrecking these kids arms. I see it way too often where these coaches push players (especially pitchers) to the brink of injury. Always tired, beat up and sore.

I’m a football coach but I’ve been around a lot of baseball kids who have played for me and with my son.

My cousin’s kid was the dude at that age - everybody said he had pro potential at 11 - pushed him too hard and the kid threw out his arm, it messed his head up and he never played again. Plays golf in college now instead of baseball.
A lot of these parents have their kids in stuff all week - soccer, baseball, training on the side - and it all wears them down. So if you aren’t that coach and your kids are having fun I’d say you’re doing just fine.
There's a dude who was a year older than me who I played against once in high school. When he was 12 and 13, he pitched his team to the Little League World Series and the Senior World Series. By the time he got to high school, his arm was so fucked he could only play second base. His arm wasn't strong enough to play 2B in college, and he still was a good enough hitter to play D-1 as a DH at Rutgers (might even have made their HOF), and couldn't get a pro contract. I don't want to see that happen to a kid I coach.I’m a football coach but I’ve been around a lot of baseball kids who have played for me and with my son.

My dad learned soccer so he could coach us. Had played and coached baseball and football when he was younger, don't know how much soccer he had played or watched before we started playing as kids.Sorry to hear brother. I'm coaching flag football (my son has never played nor have I) and I feel like a fish out of water with all the different rules lol
Gonna be interesting
