This!!! I mean kids are getting tommy john even before they need it now.. Which is ridiculous!

I see kids out there doing plyometrics and just shake my head. All these kids jumping around on one leg, balancing on medicine balls with one foot, doing push-ups using cable, all their joints taking mad amounts of stress etc etc

This is why non-contact injures are so common now.

morning all, mrs pnk tried to lock me out last night and have me freeze to death

I let the dogs out and went to clean up murray's poop, murray beat me back inside and Mrs Pnk shut and locked door while I was still out.

I am about to start my son on low weight weight training but nothing crazy like that. Just trying to bulk him up some. He has hit a pretty big growth sport to where hes the biggest kid on his flag team. Hes about mid point on his tackle team but these are like all the biggest kids in his district.

How old is he? My oldest son & daughter are 11 and they do body weight training once a week with me during the season. Pull-ups, push ups, dips, leg raises, sit ups, planks, squats (and sprints). No added weight. Both are beasts. Both extremely self disciplined. Son also catches 200 balls a week and wants a jugs machine to bring it to the next level.

Son is approximately 5 foot 1 and a little over 100 lbs. and has been able to keep his speed & agility at high levels while adding muscle. Fastest kid on the team while being one of the biggest.

He does no outside training or plyometrics.

He’s in a tackle league where the weight limit is a lot more than he weighs (180 I think) but those kids tend to be O & D linemen. He often matches up with much smaller corners & safety’s.

Cold and rainy today after a few days in the 90s.
 
Well it's been overcast & colder than expected which means storm development usually is dead. However the meteorologists are saying warmer air is on the way & overcast doesn't seem to be bothering the development per models. Guess that makes since as to why the early morning storms were cranking in 36 to 38 degree weather.

I didn’t touch weights until I was 15. And when I began it was strictly bench, squat, deadlift and overhead press.

I was the strength coach for a HS team 25 years ago and none of those kids knew how to properly lift. Everything was ego lifting without form.

Your kid will see great success doing body weight exercises at his age. Keep him away from plyometrics and keep free weights away until his teens and he will be good.

Weather here is miserable and rainy in the 30’s. Forgot how useless April was minus the NFL draft.
