Wednesday New Year's Eve Eve Thread

If you put your info out on Lending Tree or some similar website that claims to “shop around for the best rate” for you - they’re just selling your info to us banks/creating our leads.

You’re better off filling out an online application online or calling a bank directly if you want to avoid the non stop sales calls.
I don't have non stop sales calls. I filled out an online app for the last interview, but it was just a vague interest application.

My brother called last night. He was out ice fishing and fell on the ice while running over to check on a tip-up rod. Broke his leg Theismann-esque. Tibia and fibia snapped. Splint for now until the swelling goes down a bit, boot in a couple days, then surgery next Tuesday.

Said when he stood up and tried to take a step on it, he could feel his leg mush further down into his boot. *shudders*

OUCH!!!

She was visiting the US, and I met up with her

Where is the missing chicken?

Good morning good people. Raining like a mother out there. Wife doesn't want me to go out.

How bout them Longhorns? Texas wins another bowl game. I've already forgotten the name of the Bowl game. I mean who really cares. We still have the Cotton Bowl and the Rose Bowl game at Jerryworld, so lots of football is left. Really looking forward to Ohio State and Clemson.

Apparently I'm now allowed to get the virus shot, but I'll wait until the New Year. Supplies are supposedly low so it's not like I can just walk in. Need a reservation.

Thought for the day: It could be that your purpose in life is a warning to others?

I know it's a money thing, which I totally get by my god there are WAAAAAAAY too many bowl games. Why doesn't the league just say, "everyone gets to play in a bowl" it seems like we are headed that way

Next weeks bowl - "The Participation Bowl" brought to you by some company no one has ever heard of

NYE was always a big build up that never was as fun as you expected it to be. I like it a lot more now that we make a fun meal with the kids, play games, and watch movies. We have a couple cocktails and call it a night.
i went to the bars when i was 21 and 22 and never again. what a hassle

first NYE me and roommate split a cab with a nice young couple who I don't think wanted to split a cab with us, we just sort of jumped in when we found out they were heading in our direction

next year we got a ride home from some strange guys in a mini van. Did not get raped

I wasn't very savvy when I bought my first car. Probably got taken pretty good by the dealer on loan terms. The last two cars we bought were at .9% financing and 0% financing. Will have the second car paid off next year, and then hopefully we can go a few years before needing to replace one. And if I continue down the road of remote work, the second car will last us a pretty long time, since it basically only gets used when I go grocery shopping right now.
yeah, we're pretty low as well. Not that low since we buy slightly used

my one car that is paid off was 2.00 and Audi is 1.75%.....not bad for used car

my getting a new car is not a need, when I trade mine in it'll only have ~60K miles. She's got some life left in her, but she'll be an 8 year old car and I like to feel fancy

I haven't had a car payment for 15 years. And my civic is an old F-150. Still gets me from point A to point B. We all have different values.
Yup, that was my point

I'm not saying your method is wrong, it is more financially sound, but I'm not going to begrudge people that like having a new(er) car. I do think if you're on a tight budget, new car shouldn't be considered.

The Weedeater Bowl is my all time favorite name. Maybe we need a Toilet Bowl also?

That sounds like the time my buddy and I got into a random van...

So we are going to Sox game... We want to take Green line into Fenway Park. I've driven there (green line) basically all my life.... Buddy I went with lived 15 min from Boston and he insisted we take the way he knew... Which I knew was wrong but I went with him anyway..

Long story short. We don't get green line, have to fucking take Commuter rail in (spend $25 bucks) only to MISS the last Commuter Rail back to our stop by a minute... stranded in Boston...... Find a flyer ($10 anywhere in Boston).

Red mini van shows up, license plate inside front window, baby seat in back, reeking of weed.....

I thought we were gonna die..... to top it off Dude didn't know how to get back to where my car was

Found out I need new leech lines for the septic system. It's a shitty situation.

Ahh, Facebook memories. Two years ago I was in Philly, hooking up with an Australian chick I met online.
I was at a concert last NYE. Remember those? Those were pretty sweet

It's going to be a bit interesting when we decide to upgrade the family car. My car is a Mazda 3, which is fine for like one car seat, but do I want the bigger car with more hauling capabilities and keep the Outback? If I'm barely driving like I am now, I might keep the Outback just because it'd be nice to have the roof rack and trailer hitch for things like going on bike rides or going up to the mountains for snowboarding. We'll probably have a bigger SUV anyway, so I don't know how important that will even wind up being.
