Week 0 LOLs

You wonder how much traveling to Ireland and having to play in a much different time zone makes a difference too
Yup. I thought of it all. The travel, the time zone change, the rain coming out of nowhere. I mean, I know many will say that Georgia Tech had to endure all that too. I just wonder if this GT win is brought down by a loss to a team in the future that GT should not be losing to.

I think if GT finishes with a good record, that even improves their case to make it at 10-2. (as I very recently forgot) there's only 4 power conferences now. 12 spots is a lot of teams.

Put it this way, after the conference championship games last year there were 6, 10-2 teams from the 4 major conferences (not including SMU who just joined). None of them were conference champs. If I'm understanding the formula correctly, at least 3, if not 4, of them would have made the 12 team playoff. That's pretty good odds still.
I don't think the committee is going to view 10-2 teams from the ACC and the Big 12 as favorably as they will the 10-2 teams from the B1G and SEC. I think 9-3 B1G and SEC teams will even be viewed more favorably than 10-2 ACC and Big 12 teams. JMO.

Of course not the committee is not going to view anything except for the criteria that has been given to them by the SEC Overlords.

If they deviate….well accidents are a part of life.

How about ACC execs watching SMU needing a comeback score with a minute left to take the lead over a team picked last in the Mountain West.

I wouldn't be surprised. Specifically this coming Saturday.

I think that would reflect even worse on FSU. If GT ends up going undefeated then this loss doesn't look as bad as if GT goes out and loses this weekend to GA St.

but it really isn’t. The 12 team playoff means that games like that don’t kill a season anymore (unfortunately). FSU could finish 10-2 and still probably make it.
Agree, but it's less than ideal. First, it means they aren't as good as some thought - I am not surprised and called the upset here and elsewhere.

Second, you have no room for error. You have to beat everyone else to get into the ACCCG. Those are the two teams that would get in from the ACC. If you aren't P2, you better get to the CG or you are toast.

I am not sure what to think now about the Noles. Was the defensive line I kept hearing about this summer the defensive line that showed up? Did the Noles think that this is "just" Georgia Tech, we got this? FSU has a QB that has had seasons under his belt, still didn't translate to much in the form of connecting balls down the field.

Do they rise up and run the table? Do they lose less than two games the rest of the way? I am no defensive coordinator, but maybe could have put a spy on King. Even with three losses, will that be acceptable in Tallahassee?
I have not understood the FSU love, just like I don't get the UM love.

- The team that UGA beat 63-3 is their core team.
- They added 16, but if Marving Jones Jr was their best, he wasn't even a starter at UGA. He didn't do much at all against the Nerds. Most of the people they added couldn't get PT at the schools they left.
- The added a QB who has not succeeded where he was before and had all sorts of weaknesses that everyone knows about.
- Last year they hit the protal as well as you could, and they all had best years ever. They aren't off to that same success this year like they did last year against LSU.

FSU was always more likely to by 9-3 than they were to be 12-0 again.

And it's not like DJ had a bad game, he did what he pretty much has always done. He's just not that good.

It's ok for you to tell me that, but don't tell them.

man ESPN was KILLING him with those stats they were putting on TV.. lol

if you have DJ as a starter.. you are not a good football team..

And this leads me to think, "Was FSU especially Norvell thinking that they get DJ. He is a veteran. We don't need to find someone great. We will make it work." Because I just don't see it. Did Florida State just "settle"? I mean in his career, DJ Eweeuglyday has 59% completion, 57 TD's, 24 picks, sacked 58 times (I know this isn't all on him).

I am not sure what other QB's in the portal that Florida State would have had a chance at getting.
