Week 12 Playoff Projections

i don't mind them getting an auto bid but a first rd bye?? ehh But i'll take it regardless.. can't over react to something that has yet to be played out on the field
One thing I like about the First Round Bye reserved for Conference Champions (regardless of whether it is for B1G, SEC, Big XII, ACC or G5) is that those four teams had to WIN a CCG, so they deserve a BYE just for having to WIN one more game than all but one (5th auto-bid) of the other teams. I think it is fair. Having to win 4 in a row is a bitch for any team. Making it five in a row (CCG + 4 Playoff Games) is even beyond that.

SEC goes 3-1. It would be even more lopsided if they went 8 deep. JMO

But, I’m considered a SEC honk by some so there’s that.

Oregon, Ohio St win this year. So an even split.

Auto bids need to go away. There isn't a single team in the Big 12 or ACC that would be in the top 7 of the SEC or top 5 of the Big 10.
Imagine Colorado coming in and matching up with Bama or PSU and beating them. That's what that might do from time to time.

I agree but it seems you and I are actually in the big minority on that issue. From what I understand, the P2 don’t seem to mind and even like having them and the G5 in the mix. Only reason I can think of is the P2 want the little viewership those can bring. Otherwise it makes no sense.
Probably legal issues. Anti-trust stuff.

It just won't be the best 12 teams. Yeah, march madness if fun, but it ain't a 12 team tournament, so letting the little autos in is fine. In college football, it should be the top 12 teams, regardless of conference. Honestly, 12 is a damn stupid number. Should be 16 & let 'er rip!
As long as you have Conference Championships, the odd numbers provide byes that you have to have. And they aren't going to get rid of the CC games.

I'm shocked that someone who is an SEC fan would say this
It has nothing to do with being SEC. As a fan, I'd like for my top sporting events not to be determined by shitty weather. I would have thought that was common sense. Let's get some of the best teams together and then put them in blowing snow, pouring down rain, 100-degree heat, and 98% humidity. Let's get it in a controlled environment and see who the best team is.

I am for the home games, weather notwithstanding. But after the first, maybe second round, move them to neutral sites in a controlled environment. All the games I have been to were roughly 50/50 fans, so it's not that. If your team won't travel, fuck off.

I'm assuming the first round games on campuses will allocate tickets 50/50. In the visitors don't sell their allotment they go back to the home team. Is that correct?

Players will decide games not weather.

Both teams have to play in it

I don't think so ... I think the home teams gets a bulk of tickets.

That's a dumb statement that is demonstrably untrue. Even if both teams have to play in it, if obviously affects the performance.

Go ahead and say it ... you think it is advantageous to your team so it can't be a bad thing. But the problem is that I would object to playing in high heat and humidity, which would arguably be an advantage to my team. I want both teams to play in a bad weather-free environment and let's see who the best team is.

Oregon doesn't play in much cold weather. Rain, yes. Snow, no.

Plus, last place Oklahoma State (0-7) in the Big XII has a win over Arkansas. Cherry picked games - of course.

You and I both know the Big XII Champion is usually not going to be as good as the SEC Champion, etc, but the Big XII is deep and has a lot of good teams.

Either way, if other conferences are not represented, it's really not a National Championship Tournament.

If the SEC and B1G want an SEC and B1G exclusive event, they can have one. Just have a 16 team bracket with the top 8 SEC vs. the top 8 B1G teams and let her rip! Just call it what it is.
I see that reflected in some of the computer ratings. Sagarin for example has only 2 Big 12 teams in the top 20, as opposed to 8 SEC. 5 Big Ten and 3 ACC. On the other end, there is one Big 12 team rated 69 or below(that's how many P4 teams there are now) same as the SEC, while the ACC has 5 and the Big 10 has 4.

There are a ton of Big 12 teams in the 20s and 30's, a lot good teams in there. The highs might not be as high as some other conferences, but they also avoid the shit teams...looking at you Purdue and Stanford. #116 and #106 respectively...only slightly better than Mercer @ #129.

I can't speak for the new West Coast entries because I haven't looked and it's not really the same, but for the original Big Ten teams the next one that plays a game outdoors in December will be the first.

The SEC 4 tied teams should be ranked in this order....

first all the H2Hs cancel each other out when they're are this many tied teams so the fairest way to do it is go by SOR and SOS which would be

1.UGA
2.Alabama
3.Tennessee
4.Ole Miss

that's the fairest way to do it IMO
