Was in a Safeway this evening. Cart full of groceries When a kid said that stand he was in wasnt open (he was just cleaning it) I asked which one was open since all the lights were off. He said none of them. I just stared at him for a second waiting for the punchline. When that didnt come. I asked what do you mean none of the cashiers were open? He just put his hands up Like I dont know. So I asked then how do we get out of here with our stuff? He just reiterated we dont have an cashiers. Meanwhile some guy thought I was going into a line at the cashier spopt I had thought was open & asked is this open. I told him no. Apparently none are. Staring at this long line at self check out. I just looked at the kid & asked. Are you serious? Which to be fair. Not much else he could say. He then did ask. If I was door dash? because they get preferential treatment. Which I said no & I am not sure what treatment that would be since there were zero cashiers.
So eventually still amazed this is even happening & find myself standing next to a self check out with a ton of groceries. I guess I was still just staring at it like what the fuck? When a guy next to me also wondered where everyone else was. Granted he only had a few items he was scanning. but then he made me laugh. He said just walk out with all that. That is what they do in california! LOL
So as I stood there for what seemed like a long time & the 2 kids at the self check out just ignoring me at this point. Again not much they could say at this point. I thought well I guess I will just figure this thing out & get my groceries home. Then find a new place to shop later. 1st thing I read is I am supposed to charge myself 11 cents per bag to do their job. Now I am supposed to charge myself to do their job. LOL
I said oh no. Fuck this. Pushed my cart to where an actual cashier was supposed to be, then just left it there & walked out.
Went to another store about a block away & just grabbed a few things.

I literally felt like that get off my lawn kinda guy tonight. LOL

A major grocery store during the evening after work. A weekend evening to boot with no cashiers. Not even sure how that should be acceptable. Which makes me think. Yep! I must be officially old!
 
My local target does this all the time. I pushed my cart into the supervisor lane once and start unloading. her underling overseeing the self check out claps at me "she isn't open". Which lane is I ask knowing none are. The supervisor caves and checks me out. But I have also left a cart full of shit at the self check out and only scanned the one item I actually came in for too.

not that old. but I usually end up in the line where I am waiting for that lil old lady doing something to that nature. LOL

The most annoying thing is our self checkouts are big enough for 3 bags total. So I always have issues with buying too much and having to either balance that shit or start putting bags in the cart with the other stuff and forget what I scanned already.

When he was leaving he told me good luck. I asked him I wonder if we get invited to the christmas party. As he was walking out of the store he yelled out. I didnt get invited to the christmas party! :heh:

funny thing is they would go over & tell some lady when she was doing something wrong. I am thinking. Why dont you do it. Its your fucking job!
