So kid signed an NIL deal worth $430k, but he then has to pay the collective 15% of he pre-tax NFL earnings for 25 years!!!

These kids better have proper legal representation when being approached on these deals.

Personally, I think that's funny. Not surprising that this is and will continue to happen. :heh:

Welcome to the REAL world kid!!!

Dumb teenager is unable to see the big picture and only the $400k dangled in front of him? Predatory and should be illegal (and was, now isn't) and the kid needs to learn a lesson but not at the expense of earnings he makes for the rest of his damn life.

Yeah. That’s a bad one, Florida. They removed the very guardrail his lawyers are now claiming prevents this deal.

so what happens if he only plays 10 or 15 years instead of 25?

Good question. Article says earnings not salary so I don’t know if that includes his pension or other forms of compensation.

DANG, what a great deal for the NIL collective lol.

Playing the futures market. Akin to buying yearlings at Keeneland.
But like, for nothing. And they get to buy their college football teams. Quite a deal.

pre-tax... that's just cruel.

What about earnings from CFL, XFL, *FL?

I wonder if there is a secondary market for shares of the collective, or a mutual fund for broader exposure.

What if the kid transfers? Or suffers a career-ending injury in college? Or gets a speeding ticket?

I want to sell insurance to the collective.
