Well It Didn’t Take Long For NIL Collectives To Become As Exploitative As The NCAA

Without college football and college basketball there would be no college sports....those 2 pay for them all
Take the money with you. I watch college football and basketball for the games. The money part belongs in the WSJ, not a sports message board.

So kid signed an NIL deal worth $430k, but he then has to pay the collective 15% of he pre-tax NFL earnings for 25 years!!!

These kids better have proper legal representation when being approached on these deals.

If he was dumb enough to sign that deal, he has no one to blame but himself.

Imagine how ignorant you'd have to be to sign that deal?!?! That company had to be popping bottles and celebrating after he signed that deal.

I hope they make Gervin honor the deal. After just the 1st contract he signed after getting drafted -- he owes that company over $1,000,000. That is only 4 years into the deal. He has to give them money for 21 more years.:pound:

The only reason this look bad on Florida isn't this kid was supposedly educated by the school for 2 years and thought this contract sounded like a good deal to him.

Was listening to a guy on a podcast throw an interesting scenario out there. Now that these networks are paying more and more for certain conferences what is to stop say Fox, giving NIL deals to kids to get them in the conferences they have TV deals with? Could get really crazy

Let me say it again for you....there won't be any sports without the money generated by those 2 sports

Ain't trolling. Why hasn't CFB put the players on the payroll and be done with it?
Because they have complications. It’s not an independent league. And they don’t want it that way. Slave owners like having slaves.
But as I predict, we will have a single superleague soon, probably still loosely affiliated with the colleges.
It has to go that way because the previous and even current situation are unethical and illegal and most importantly, unsustainable.

Not paying the principals in any industry is unethical and illegal and immoral and unamerican.
Monopsonies created to disenfranchise principals from compensation is illegal unamerican and unethical and immoral.
But you know, I’ve only been saying that same thing since these forums were on espn two decades ago.

College football is a professional sport. Just drop the school affiliations and jettison the hypocrisy of student-athlete.
No because fat non-athletic people have to bitch back and forth about the school they went to and why they are a batter human being than the person at the other school.

I can see some of that. Some coaches are making a hell of a lot of money and yet players aren't...or weren't. Schools were using "some of the profits" to support other sports.

So if the schools/teams/conferences weren't profiting off the work of the "principals" (I did get paid as a Principal but that's a different story), this wouldn't be an issue?

Don’t think so. We have a junior college here (the one Nolan Richardson won a national junior college championship at) and they have men’s/women’s basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, men’s/women’s track/cross country, men’s/women’s golf, men’s/women’s soccer and men’s/women’s RODEO!!!! All without the funding big time football/basketball provides. There are a ton of schools just like it. Tiger Woods would fund Stanford golf by himself if necessary.

Then I'll do something else. Money will destroy the sport.
better enjoy your local HSFB team before they too pick and choose schools for NIL

No one gives a shit about your hard on for a junior college...and I guarantee you money's made from basketball there are proping up the others . Do the math...if they charge you admission that's the sport that makes them money

I don't care if you give a shit or not. There are more colleges that have sports without the big time CFB funding than there are those WITH big time CFB funding. And most don't even make enough revenue to pay for their football or men's basketball programs much less fund the other programs.

And you'd wrong as usual. There are less than 200 people at the JC basketball games. That doesn't even pay for their own program, much less the other ones.

So genius, where the fuck do think they get the money to fund those other sports without big time CFB funding?
