Wendsday with ill

I knew a guy who used to be the county treasurer, he retired form that and bought a ford dealership in a small town south of here. He gave his daughter (who went to school with me) a new ford Pinto for her 16th birthday. She got rear ended on the interstate and died in the fire.

That was the first time I had heard about the pinto fire thing.
Damn.

Early Mustangs have that issue too. No break between the tank and back seat. And if you hit someone head on the steering column didn't collapse and would go right through your heart.

Other than the Mustang Ford has produced shitty cars and solid trucks for a long time.

Sounds like he may have been trying to hot-rod a Pinto. I assume he and the car didn't survive?
Car is gone, he's still alive, still an idiot.

If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have known that I was capable of pulling a 6 ft tall 19 year old out of a car through a window by his shirt collar.

I'm still to this day really impressed with myself that I was able to do that. Hulk type anger strength.

college roommate had two escorts die on him, he got a third

WHY DO YOU KEEP GETTING FORD ESCORTS

he moved out shortly after getting the third, never did find out how long the third made it

He was minor legend as he somehow convinced a girl to give him a BJ in our disgusting basement shower. It was just bare cement narrow shower. I used bathroom down there few times when main was full, but basement bathroom was mostly unused. She must have been impressed by the ford. I can't recall if I lived with him for one or two years, I think just one.

Yeah all their cars are pretty worthless after the steel body days. Trucks and SUV's are pretty solid, which is why Ford stopped making anything but Mustang and truck/suv's.

My Escort didn't even have ac.
It was the only front wheel drive car I've ever owned.

The only car I've ever had involvement with that was worse than that escort was the Pinto wagon my 2nd wife had when I met her. What a pos. It had a rubber timing belt and I'd have to retime it for her about every other week.
I'll never consider you Hoopla Nation's Dr Phil.

Sounds like most american car companies to be honest, good trucks, not great cars. Average SUV's

We got a tricked out Odyssey for Mrs Redfoot. I wouldn't want it, but it is badass.
There are some pretty trick minivans. Wouldn't be caught dead in one, but if I had to have one then there are some cool options out there.

I'm stupid. It was a Plymouth...a Plymouth Fury.

I called it the "boat". Could drive down the road with my left foot out the window.
this bad boy

I really think there would be market for some of these retro cars if done right.

Friend of mine has a mini van due to kids

comfort and practicallity have won him over. And since it's a mini van, he doesn't give a shit about the damage his kids do to it. He was also great to be DD back in the day, since he could haul us all around and having young kids was ok having 1-2 beers while we got lit up

Anything from the 70's is getting HOT right now. Not a lot left and those that are need a ton of work.
I mean if if car manufacturers brought back new versions of them, but paid proper homage to the retro. Like Ford bronco, not like Chevy Blazer.

but one thing to bring back popular SUV's, car market is fading, so while I think they'd sell to some extent, probably not at volume to be worthwhile

fuck a minivan. I always got big ass SUVs.

It's got all kinds of crazy bells an whistles.

I don't mind driving it from time to time when the whole family's in it (I always drive), but on the rare occasion that I have to drive it by myself, I do not like it.

Owned two for that reason. Cargo capability is also underrated, especially if you remove the seats, like I have for my paint van.
