About the time YoutubeTV stopped carrying Braves game, I had Directtv installed again and have no intention of going back to streaming.
i loved directtv when i had it during the original tivo days.. then i had it again in 2011, loved the Audience channel. However being in VA at the time.. everytime a storm would wander in..I'd lose signal.. got too frustrated with that

Balley forced us out of Hulu to DirecTV just to watch the Braves. That was a few years after Sling not carrying them that forces us to Hulu.

It's OK I guess, I don't watch anything outside of Braves and CFB.

YouTube. So much better than Xfinity. Can add/drop extra channels and features with the click of a button online. Base price is fixed and includes basically every sports channel. Big thing for me is that you can get NFL redzone with it, and I think there’s only one other streaming platform that offers it. Will absolutely never go back to cable.

Only bad thing is they lost fox sports Detroit (Balley sports or whatever the fuck it’s called now). Not a huge baseball fan but it was nice to watch the red wings. If they ever get good you can now buy that as a stand alone option but it’s really too expensive to justify.

The worst part about cable is having to haggle for package prices and rented equipment. And then it’s impossible to cancel. No thanks.

I’ve had pretty good luck with it. It has to come a pretty big storm for me to lose signal.

I've got a Commodore 64 for Tecmo Bowl

This can be addicting

Yeah there is no flipping through the channels and the inability to "return to previous channel" on any platform is insane. There are enough buttons on a PS5 controller to dedicate one of them to "back".

The redeeming quality for me during the CWS was the multi picture mode. I could have 4 channels up on the screen to watch all 4 and rotate focus on whichever I wanted to hear. Can't wait to use that during CFB.

Edit: Nevermind, that was the ESPN App, not YTTV.

Comcast, just paid my bill. A few bucks shy of $200. Thats starting to become my biggest utility bill.

You probably didn’t give it a chance. With YouTube you can go online and customize your guide. Remove channels you’ll never watch, and organize all the others how you want. All the channels I want are now right at the top. Sports channels are all grouped together next. Then the “movie” channels. All the other garbage is removed. It’s absolutely perfect for simply browsing. Comcast sucked. You had to memorize channel numbers and try to navigate where everything is among 1000 channels you’ll never watch. During fall, literally every single game being televised is on a 10 or so channel grouping in my guide. It’s perfect. The ONLY major thing I miss is a “return” function that allows you to pop back and forth between two channels over and over again.

More importantly YouTube has an unlimited DVR. I just record shows now I might slightly want to watch and some point and it will record whole seasons over time. No skin off my back.

Yup. Mine bumped to $230 and that’s when k quit. $65 for YTTV now, the initial cost of 4 fire sticks, purchased my own modem and now just pay Comcast for unlimited data 200mbps internet. ($100). So my total went from $230 to $165.

Yeah you can order your guide how you want, and I have, but you still have to drop back to guide and select the new channel and then enter it. And if it is sports or something you are recording you get the additional "live or from beginning" pop up. All of it is not that big of a deal but you can't just flip through the channels.

And the PS5 layout they just rolled out in the last week or so is stupid. Trying to be more DTV like. I like the one on the AppleTV much better.

It’s just a different function now. If you group thr channels together it’s not a big deal to hit back and then click the other game. Much more difficult if you don’t organize your guide and have to scroll down to find the other.

Interesting, Ive never really used youtube although my cousin and her husband have it and we’re showing me. Do you still get internet from Comcast ?

That is why I am still old, old school. Shit cut into my drinking budget too much. I hit the local pub when the Badgers are on streaming only and spend less than that. If other games ain't on broadcast, I don't watch them.

Yes. Still have Comcast internet. Really the only option I have besides ATT or Verizon’s 5GUW. But I bought my own router so I’m not renting their equipment. And purposefully pay $50/month to avoid their 1TB data cap that’s normally on their internet. Which is why it’s $100. Without that I’d be paying $50.
