I don't know. His early stuff is more than that. His lyrics are pretty good. In some of his early songs, I hear some Dylan influence.

I never really appreciated Springsteen until someone dragged me begrudgingly to a concert. Since then, I'd consider myself a fan except for his need to be political.

I think he’s by and large pretty good. Doesn’t dominate my playlist or anything, but he’s got several songs on it.

His politics are annoying and I didn’t like how he tried to compare himself to John Prine after John passed last year, but I can’t really knock him as a musician

Liking Dave Matthews is NOT gay, and I'll angrily butt fuck any dude who says otherwise.

Seriously though, I like his guitar style and songwriting. He covers some pretty dark content. The drummer is a fucking beast, too.

I think he gets a bad rap because of the songs Crash Into Me and Satellite. I'm not a big fan of Crash and I dislike Satellite.

yep. i used to think dave matthews sucked, too, but then i turned 15.

TBH those are the ones I’m familiar with and why I never dug deeper. I guess it’s like the people that only know Cheese Burger in Paradise and Margaritaville and say they hate Jimmy Buffett
 
I heard another contender that I had forgotten about this morning.

Money- Pink Floyd

I don’t like Pink Floyd near as much as most of you, but I like most of their songs. Just not enough to call any of them among my favorites, but Money is one of the most annoying songs of all time. Came on the classic rock station in the shop while I was helping the mechanic for a few minutes this morning. It gets changed immediately if it comes on my radio

I've got most everything floyd ever did and Money is my least favorite of all of them.
 
Not that either was ever considered “great”, but can someone petition classic radio stations/Pandora to permanently remove anything from Bon Jovi ‘s Slippery When Wet or Def Leopard’s Hysteria albums?

Eagles - Hotel California.

It's not a terrible song per se, but it's really no more than B-side filler content that got glorified. The writing is very banal; no surprises, clever hooks, or even a defining riff.
