what's up, Wednesday?

Again I don't mind it. Incentivizes the division. Also made that division exciting to watch all the way to very last day of the season. Whereas, both of those teams would have taken their foot off the gas for the entire last month if it was under the old format.

Is it fair? No. But it makes for more exciting baseball.
Incentivizing the division is a decent point and it does make for a climactic event tonight. Still the disparity in record bugs the shit outta me, but I will be watching it, so I guess it worked

The alternative being that you have a team that won 106 games and doesn't play in the postseason at all.

Pretty sure if you gave the '93 Giants the choice, they'd have happily played a wild card game.

Golf bag was supposed to be delivered today...but the new date is tomorrow even though it says it is somewhere in MD...

Actually the alternate is they get the 1 Wild Card spot and play in the first round without the elimination game

Going back to 93 ignores an entire era where Wild Card was still a thing.

Meh… it made sense for the yanks and sox since they were tied anyway

but I think it’s messed up that the dodgers were a full 16 games better than the cards, but now they could have one single bad game (in a sport otherwise built entirely around the concept of series and playing a shitload of games) and the cards get in over them.

It would be fantastic if the Dodgers would lose tonight. The crying from the Dodgers fans would be hilarious

I'd prefer the Cards lose because I don't like them.

I blame the Cardinal fans back at Fish's old site.

Whatever, Poindexter.

The point was that 100-win teams could completely miss the playoffs before.

Also this. This alone makes it worth it. And this is coming from a guy who watched the Braves get fucked in the first year of the new wild card.

I hate the Dodgers more, but I don't like either team. That "baseball heaven" schtick is lame.

I’m confused, are you implying I’m not for a wild card team at all? I think the 106 win dodgers *should* be in the postseason, that’s what I was originally saying

I'd prefer a best-of-three to a single play-in game, but the postseason already goes on too long.

morning all

the baseball season is over, why are we still talking bout it?

I think the best of three works if they start the next day after the season ends. And no days off. Considering first round doesn't actually start until thursday or Friday anyways. It really doesn't extend the postseason at all.

Would've been the Twins year if they had made it and the Yankees already eliminated.

Gonna play a round at my home course this morning, haven't been there since league ended a over a month ago.

Need to remember to redeem my pro-shop credit this year. Maybe a hat.

I played so damn well on Sunday that I hate that I won't get out again for at least another week. Hit my irons crisp, found the fairways....give me more of that.

and I am done buying hats for a while. I have way too many.
