GAME Where do we laugh at the Gators?

Oregon State (9-3) is simply better than Florida (6-6) at FULL STRENGTH.
The Gators could have had Tim Tebow at QB and not won that game.
Good on the Beavers!

In general, I agree. Not a fan. However, I thought the schtick about kicking the FG was funny.
He was mocking Florida and he was right to do it. Going for a field goal down thirty to preserve a streak is peak pathetic behavior.

I was mocking that stupid streak a couple months ago right here on this board, before most of you even knew it existed.

But this time I support the decision to kick... There was less than a minute left in the game. What does a TD get you? Nothing... might as well get something from the game to throw in the faces of the quitters.

I’d start a poll if I wasn’t lazy, but what is the more suspect streak, the Florida held scoreless streak or the Nebraska sellout streak?

If Florida didn’t do it for the Homeless Orphans, then theirs is way more suspect.

I’ll never understand this thinking. Since when is it pathetic to score and since when do you ask permission to do it?

Kicking the FG in and of itself was fine. Scoring is good like @HammerDown said. Kirk was lame about saying it was someone less meaningful than trying for a TD in a losing cause. I also like your point about throwing it in the faces of the quitters. That's a good take! Happy for the FG kicker who scored in a Bowl Game.

That being said, this is not soccer (which I love), so the streak is meanigless, especially when there are scores like this FG to keep it in tact. Caring about the streak and kicking the FG to preseve the streak just excentuates the ineptitude of the Florida offense in this game to me. At some point streaks and stats can be very empty.

Not picking on the Gators here though, as I wish Iowa State (4-8) had the opportunity to lose the Las Vegas Bowl 30-3. My ass is cold this morning (7F) in Des Moines. I sure wish I was in Las Vegas watching the World Cup Final instead of on my home TV!

Full strength florida....:pound: good one

Meh, I think saying that going for the field goal is "pathetic" or whatever is a bit overblown.

It's not like Florida has just had a bunch of mediocre teams. There have been a lot of wins and a Natty or 2 during that streak.

Plus, no one wants to be the Florida team that breaks that streak.

Earlier I may have posted sentiments that might lead some to believe I was defending Flordia.

For that I am deeply ashamed. While I stand by what I said, I sincerely wish it had been in defense of the actions of pretty much any other team.

I think you might be able to relate to my feelings.

I didn't say that Florida was at full strength in this game. What I was saying is that the Florida that finished the Regular Season (6-6) (with no opt outs or transfer portal players) would have still lost to the better Oregon State team. A (9-3) Oregon State team should beat a (6-6) Florida team. If Florida brought half of a (6-6) team with them, that's half of a mediocre team at best. Oregon State was better than Florida this year. The result of the game was not a surprise. The Gators didn't lose due to not being at full strength.

You won’t hear anyone beating their chests over Florida. But next year… 15-0!

Oregon fans are fine with Oregon State doing well.

Rival is Washington.
this has nothing to do with your post nor am i trying to argue that i know your rivals better than you do BUT

Since 2000, Oregon State has more wins against the Ducks than Washington does

It’s obviously the uniform colors. It has to be. Something about the royal blue and bright orange just makes a beaver fuckin snap and just starts raining down haymakers.

How the hell else does ORST kick anyone’s ass in football? Let alone two historically pretty good teams in the same year. Even if one of them is absolute dogshit this year.
