Which Loss Would You Want Back?

and whatever fucking year this was.

Thanks Bob, just have them re-kick that please.

Easy...2006 vs. UCLA

USC was 10-1 and ranked #2 in the nation going into the UCLA game.

UCLA was 6-5 and unranked.

Win and USC is playing in their 3rd straight NCG.

Instead, a team averaging 33 points per game gets held to just 9 and they lose 13-9.

I figured the Stanford loss would be at the top of the list. Kept em out of the 2007 NCG too, and Ohio State wasn’t scaring anyone at that time.

2012 vs Stanford.

So many reasons Oregon should not have lost that one...and yet they did...keeping them out of the NCG

That one sucked too. Almost went with it because I was at that game.

But UCLA is our crosstown rival.

2007 Tennessee or 2007 South Carolina

Either one is fine. Would have got us in the SECCG against LSU with the winner going to the NCG

For your team, which loss do you want back more than anything in the world (well almost)? You can't pick a national title game nor a conference championship game. Was it to a rival? Was it to a scrub team? Was it a home loss where your team got blasted? Was your team favored by 31 and you lost by 6? Did the loss send that season or the program, in general, into a downward spiral?
Either Michigan Ohio State 2006 or Michigan Ohio State 2016. Both haunt my dreams, 2016 was a little worse because we had it won. 2006 OSU was driving, we should have had them stopped with the ball back and potential to score and win the game but a personal foul penalty kept the OSU winning driving alive.

Funny how many 2006 answers are on here. Lots of pain that year.

A&M's loss to UCLA back in 2017...

Texas 1983 hands us a natty.
2013 Rose Bowl wins the natty.

There are several more but those are the easiest argument.

So is mine...but we have a clear #1: 1984 Navy. Ranked 2nd at the time, playing at home to an unranked service academy. A win would have cemented an Orange Bowl bid and a shot at a Natty.

Oklahoma beat #1 Nebraska that same day, so a win would also have given us our first ever #1 ranking.

The loss messed up the entire college football landscape for that year, resulting in a BYU title. It's possible that we could have lost our last game to Clemson, or the Orange Bowl to Oklahoma. Well never know.

who are you cheering for in this scenario? the cocks?

I would say the 1998 Michigan State game, I think we win the BCS title game that year if we didn't choke that game away. However there is a catch to that as that probably buys John Cooper more years.

So lets go with the 2013 B1G title game against Michigan State. That's another BCS title game I think we coulda won if we didnt choke a game away to leave ourselves out of it.

Being a husker wasn't bad enough?

Runner up for the Gamecocks would be the 2010 regular season game with Auburn. Cocks were ranked #12, Auburn was #17. Carolina got out to a 20-7 lead in the second quarter, and then Cam Newton went off. Final score was 35-27. I watched the game from a hospital room while my son was recovering from one of his surgeries.

We lost two other league games that year, and the rematch in the CCG that season was a blowout win for Auburn. So it's not like losing the regular season game was all that kept us out of Natty contention. BUT: if we hold on and win that game, then it's possible we don't even play Auburn in the SECCG, and might have gotten a better bowl out of that year. Instead we had to play FSU in the Chik-Fil-A bowl, in which we clearly didn't wanna be there.

2015 may have been a more complete team than 2013

Eh the 2015 team had a ton of talent but something was just off about it, they could just never seem to totally put it together to their full potential. A coaching failure for the most part IMO. I don't think they win the CFP. They woulda faced Bama in the 2/3 game and likely lost.

I do think the 2013 team has a great chance to beat FSU in the BCS title game.

Can we take a probation year back?

We DEFINITELY beat Notre Dame in the 2012 BCS title game if we were eligible.
