Of the 6 big name schools that just hired coaches, odds are that 3 will be successful and 3 will be gone or on a very hot seat in about 3 years. Which 3 do you think are most likely to succeed...why?

I put potato Salad. I hear that since PS moved to a new picnic, there will be a resurgence of potato salad and it will be in the news a lot.

I went with Lincoln Riley, Brian Kelly and Mario Cristobal.

Lincoln Riley - He is stepping into a situation where there is already enough talent to compete for a PAC-12 title and more talent will be coming in now that he's the head coach (they've already added a 5* QB, a 5* RB and a 4* WR since the announcement). Also, let's face it, the PAC isn't exactly a murderer's row to have to navigate.

Brian Kelly - Yes, he's going to the SEC. But the talent to win should already be at LSU and if it's not, he should be able to get it quickly. He was able to get ND to the cfp even with ND's academic requirements. He should able to do better now that he's someplace with more forgiving academic requirements.

Mario Cristobal - He's a former Hurricane, he's Cuban in Miami and it looks like he may be coming in at the same time as what should be a good AD. Apparently he's also going to embrace former players being involved which previous coaches didn't always want to do.

I voted for 2. Marcus Freeman because he's a players coach and hell of a recruiter and already has continuity there. Brent Venables because he's been groomed his whole life for this via Bill Snyder, Bob Stoops, and Dabo Sweeny and he has multiple national championships under his belt and knows how to win. I think the verdict is out on the others.

I voted Lincoln, BK and Mario.

I think Freeman is going to do well too, but they have to give him a learning curve for a few seasons. The risk of hiring a young coach.
Despite all the decommits happening at LSU, I know BK will be fine there.

Mario should be able to keep recruiting elite talent, and I think he knows he has to hire the right OC/DC to make Miami work. And with an open checkbook, he should do that.

BV.. on paper he looks to be a good hire, which he is.. but something tells me he's gonna lay a foundation for the next regime.

I think Riley is pretty much a slam dunk of succeed

Bullish on everyone else.
yeah, and that's because I feel he's at a place where it can be a quick turnaround and easily the best place to keep it going in that conference. Which is why i think Freeman could also do it. But he's also real young..

If we are talking about at their new schools in general then Venables and Riley will be fine, and of course Mr Salad. If we are only talking the first year then only Venables is safe there. LSU won't have a QB next year unless they win the portal lotto. Riley needs more than his first year to get talent on the field.

He literally got worse every season at OU. Grinch sucks as you know. I don't think that lame conference can even save him.

I say Riley, Freeman and Cristobal because they won't be in the SEC! Lot easier paths to success than having to deal with the monsters that are Bama and Georgia.

Kelly will succeed, it’s hard not to at LSU.

Oklahoma has been good for as long as I can remember, Venables will be fine.

I think Freeman is a damn good coach.

I have my doubts about the rest

Technically and literally, all new coaches succeed. #nerdlife

ummm Caleb might not stay.. And is BV defense the equivalent of LR on offense?

Caleb is staying. Lebby had a top 10 offense at UCF and Ole Miss. Did you see what Corral did in that offense? Think what Caleb will do.

I hadn't heard Caleb might leave. That changes things.

i say Caleb leaves and Gabriel portals in for ou

Napier succeeds if he implements the same work ethic and can coach up the talent he has.. Florida has talent.. they just need the right coaches.. everything I've read says that Napier is calm and collected with exacting expectations of players and coaches..
