Lots to follow on Riley, and I mean lots
You mean the rumors of an affair by LR and a hottie on the recruiting staff and his wife made him leave because if OU fired the recruiting cord. she would have brought a wrongful termination action. Also heard litigation is likely so this saga may not be over after the new coach is named.

1) pics or it didn't happen
2) Choosing not to buy out the recruiter instead of letting their HC go sounds about right for OU
3) the coordinator is probably a dude

I admit, Venables seems like he has the exact right skill set to get Okie prepped to come into the SEC. Improve that defense, sustain that offense, and suddenly they're in the hunt to win playoff games every year. Very soon he'll be matching up against Brian Kelly, Jimbo Fisher, Lane Kiffin and Mike Leach every season and potentially meeting the likes of Kirby Smart and Nick Saban in SECCGs. That's exciting as hell.

These hires will keep as many commits as possible, and should keep Caleb Williams on campus.

Well yes, but you didn’t hear it from me :)

Her husband is a position coach at Tulsa.

Her title was recruiting coordinator.

Have no idea if the rumors are true. But if true, then LR didn't abandon OU...momma did. :dhd:

GB, I'm having a hard time believing that OU is THAT far behind the SEC in facilities. Maybe the Bama, LSU types. But not Mizzou, South Carolina, etc. What am I missing?
Physical improvements for one thing. But the budgets for travel, salaries, recruiting, etc. are going to have to be dramatically higher for football. And that's on top of the $$$ OU will have to spend to bring its programs in other sports up to SEC levels. (That not the football coach's concern but it's definitely the AD's concern.) It's daunting. No one was totally unaware of the additional costs that were going to be incurred but when a new coach is questioning your commitment to excellence you are on the spot to promise a lot of stuff, not just contemplate it. I want to win as much as anyone but I'm personally fearful this whole arms race in college athletics is going to lead to financial ruin for a lot of schools.

The situation for the whole University got out of hand under Boren. Then when Gallogly came in he was forced to address the issue head on. Since then it's been an ongoing battle. Yes, the athletic department is separate from the rest of OU but it's affected by increased financial demands that are only going to get heavier as we change conferences. The requests for financial help are endless.

This is the coaching leak I was told about last week but it all sounded almost too good to be true. It's also about the same time all the talk about more, more, more $$$ got started and that part I was sure about because I was asked flat out if I thought donors would be willing to "be helpful if needed".
