The starting QB is there for one reason, and that reason just left town. You are seeing their '22 and '23 classes take on a ton of decomitts (mostly '23 but with us days from signing day and a gutted staff, you can only imagine what is going on behind the scenes). Wiese is also in the transfer portal.

Their AD is smart and smart AD'S always have a list just in case, but the timing of this couldn't be worse. They need to make a hire to stop the bleeding and it needs to happen in a matter of days or they have potentially lost 2 classes before they can recover-if they can recover. And these classes are really important because this could likely be the core upperclassmen group when they transition to the SEC.

It really sucks when someone blindsides you with a business decision...

I’m not arguing any of that. Maize is stating that Rattler leaving Oklahoma (which he already said he was leaving before Riley left) was a sign of implosion. In your opinion, is the backup quarterback leaving a program, when he all but said he was leaving anyways, a sign that Oklahoma is imploding?

If they do it fast they can bring most of them back into the fold. Plenty of time to do damage control.
