He’s been working on this for over a week is what I was told. He is also being very tight lipped. Best I know for sure is people are telling Dave Aranda to slow things down with his new deal. Feelers are supposedly out to Venables and Coach Bro too but Castiglione is keeping things private to the max. The bag money will be there if needed. One person I trust with inside knowledge is Riley handled things wrong in just about every way you can imagine over the past “3 weeks or so”.

Yeah I feel like Joe has know for awhile now. Bob has come out of left field to be interim coach. That move doesn't happen in a 24 hour period especially when you have a job with a major network and committed in addition Drake Stoops was mia since after Baylor. To me that is sign as well that his dad was contacted around then about stepping in to interim for post season and Drake went on IR cause he knew.
 
I like Kingsbury but he's a Lincoln clone. I want a tough coach and really want a defensive minded coach heading into SEC play. Give me Venables or Aranda please.

I have a feeling it's a sign if the new coach isn't named by mid week. Why the rigmarole with bringing Stoops back as interim coach if this is going to be slam-bam-thank you-maam? Just let Grinch or someone else on the staff act as the interim head coach and move on to the bowl game before the New Guy moves in. It could be awhile before we see the white smoke coming out of Joe Castiglione's office. If that happens, my money's on Dave Aranda getting time to play for the conference championship and who knows what else. It would also keep hard feelings with Baylor to a minimum. That would play out in about a week instead of 2-3 days. Venables could be named quickly if he's the guy. But there is an "interim" coach that's not currently on the staff. Hmmmmm.

If Aranda is in play then you are going to pay huge bucks to get him because LSU is in a corner right now and that is their best get in relation to fanbase satisfaction. No way he doesn't come for less than 10mm a year and if OU and LSU get in a bidding war then that number could jump to as high as 15mm (which is insane).

There aren't any guarantees and if that is what is on the board then I would roll with Venerables and give him a nice base of about 5 with major incentives in place for benchmarks that would allow him to double that if won a natty. Salaries for coaches have gotten out of control and someone is going to get burned bad or be stuck with a bad fit for a long time.

I think Riley played the shit out of LSU and I'm curious what his salary number is going to be when the dust settles.
 
There is so much money that is going to be thrown at Aranda there is no way Baylor is going to keep him and if they do they are going to drain the bank account and it is going to be tough to balance the finances down the road.

Aranda is gone we just don't know where yet.
 
what about DeMarco Murray.. I for one, would enjoy seeing him get a shot
