Who Does Oklahoma talk to, throw a name in the hat.

SEC is trending towards offense instead of defense with Kiffin, Leach and the new Bama.
Absolutely. That fits with what I said:

"The only information I'm confident in is the talk about how OU is concerned about getting someone into the program who can also coach up the O. If that isn't the HC (because he's a defensive guy), they need to be confident an O coordinator is identified now to save the existing roster and help recruiting."

You're gonna have to score points in the SEC to win consistently. Balance. That's apparently the wave of the future. But it starts with defense. Without a strong defense nobody is going to do well in the SEC.

Im still on the Venables/Lanning train. It would be nice to have a hard nose defensive coach heading into SEC play instead of a track guy.
Easy now. You just described................

And the scuttlebutt is the TCU admin wanted him to quit chewing ass so much because coaches and players won't stay with that old school approach anymore. (Only one that can get by with it now is Saban.) There was an article about it in the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I'll see if I can find it.

Here's an Old School story from OU. One day at practice, Chuck Fairbanks got royally pissed off that everyone was dogging it. He was up in his tower and started screaming at everyone to get in the north end zone. What? So everyone meandered into the north end zone and were craning their heads up at Fairbanks when he told them "Fight!". WTF? He yelled it again..."Fight, G-damn it!!!". So they did and before you know it there were helmets being used as weapons, guys on the ground punching each other, you name it for about 5 minutes before the assistant coaches started blowing whistles and breaking it all up. Guys were sporting fat lips, cuts and bruises for a couple of days and they were all mad at Fairbanks. But he didn't care. Their attitude got focused and things straightened out. It worked.

Keep you Okie mitts off of The Hype! Heupel is building something at Tennessee. Vols fans have suffered long enough. We've a new AD. The administration is noticeably less cray-cray. The one Haslam brother is no longer governor, and the other has the business school named after him. Heup has lifted the football program out of the mire. He's OURS!

Days gone by. Back then not one person gave two shits about "hurting their wittle feewins" or lowering their self esteem. But now,...................

LoL

You are talking as if we were hit with ncaa sanctions and given scholarship reduction. OU will be fine. We have the money, the facilities and the brand to keep it rolling. You're just talking nonsense.

You are a billion dollars in debt. You may eventually have the money but right now you don't.

And OSU's total outstanding debt is nearly $900 million. With a smaller financial base. If anyone is "in trouble" it's you. Do I have to explain how bond indebtedness and long term leases are figured into credit ratings when you're also including synthetic debt that has to be serviced? (Both schools have a AA- bond rating.)

The more I read about Dan Lanning, the more I like this guy for the job.
I have no idea if he has real interest, but he did interview for the Kansas job when it came up.

@Illustrious Potentate
What do you think of the guy.
Is it all him, or does he get a lot of help.
Greg McElroy loves Lanning and waxed poetically about him this morning.

Please let this happen

I guess we NOW know why Drake has been slumming around in OKC and Norman...eh? :dhd:

I kinda like the idea of Lane Kiffin to be honest
You'll get Dabo as HC, BV as DC HCIW, and Drake performing on Owen Field for the announcement and LIKE IT.
:noidea:

AND ITS GOING DOWN MINUTES AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE B12 CCG LULZ

See! There's a tweet about it and errythang!!!

@Edisto_Tiger

Uh.....what you hearing bruh?
Not a lot. They’re being tight lipped on this end. I can’t believe that they have kept it quiet this long, which only makes me think it’s going to happen. Dabo and Venables are 1st class and they’re going to do it the right way. Maybe it breaks after championship weekend?

Didn't I read just a year or so ago how bad LSU's financial situation was? Guess the pandemic cured that and it is all hunky dory now.
