Who here has quit smoking? What method worked for you?

I'd like to avoid that!

I'm pretty much already a sociopath. I'm worried about side affects with this stuff.

it gave me some freaky vivid dreams. I LOVED THEM.
I think I took it for two extra months just for those.
I had none of the other issues, but yes, there are some nasty ones listed.

Started on nicotine gum 2 days ago and I'm still about to strangle any bitch that comes near me.

Give me some tips from your success.

TIA.

PISS OFF!
The doctor told me it would kill my wife if I did not quit. I dropped my pack in the trash can on the way out of his office. That was 1992. Never even took another puff. I think if given a real reason to quit you can with not much trouble. Hope you find a good reason and you can if you sincerely want to. I believe YOU are a great reason to quit.

I quit for good 16 yrs ago. Cold turkey.
One of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
I smoked on and off since the late 70’s...and tried quitting numerous times, but only got as far as a few weeks or a month or 2 without it.
Never relied on patches or pills.
Cold turkey was the way to go for me.

I've never smoked cigarettes, but I did recently quit dipping. Didn't go cold turkey. I was dipping two cans a day. I just gradually started dipping less over a couple months and then I was done. I've gone through a shitload of sunflower seeds and toothpicks.

One of the easiest things I ever did. I think fearing quitting is what kept me from doing it sooner. If only I'd known.

Sounds like you like to suck on things. Ever been to south Alabama?

I quit a few different times. Finally success on the last try. Patches with lozenges as eye opener in the morning.

Ain't easy for most but find a place for the money to treat yourself.
When I quit Winstons were $15.00 a carton in 1992'. Smoked a carton a week. Called my credit union and had $60.00 a month put in savings. Retired in 2004. Do the math. Best decision I ever made

Cigs stink, but I dipped and chewed more than my fair share. Went cold turkey about 6 years ago at 12:01am on January 1.

It sucked for a week. I remember I was really busy about then with work so distracted Too much to miss it.

Chantix is no joke I tried it and had to get off pretty quickly because things got weird.

Wellbutrin is probably a better path if you want to go the drug way.

Best method cold turkey and just know it is going to suck like hell for 3 weeks before it eases up.

Do what @Peter Gozintite says to do...

Instead of convincing yourself to quit smoking cigarettes, convince yourself you never smoked to begin with.

That way you don't have to quit smoking, which is hard to do, and simply quit believing you ever did smoke, which is easier to do.

Try it....might work!

I quit smoking about 20 years ago for a really simple reason: I realized sucking smoke through a tube and not getting high was extremely stupid.

I quit chewing just because I was too lazy to drive to the gas station.
