Who will replace Roy

Nah I don’t think he is that great. Teams that live and die by the 3 dont win in March. UNC should look somewhere else
I disagree if Auburn gets the double dribble call or Okeke doesn't get hurt then Auburn wins the natty. I would also argue that Virginia and TT lived and died by the 3 that year so it definitely works.

Loyola went home because they couldn't hit the 3.

The problem with SEC teams is the lack of defense and discipline. Our conference is recruiting athletes, turning them loose, and not necessarily building chemistry.

That is the key that makes Gonzaga and Baylor so tough this year is the amount of chemistry and team play on both teams. Their guys don't think twice about giving up the rock and getting the assist.

Can't see UNC going with anyone outside his staff. This was probably already settled weeks ago.

Realistic UNC short list (I don't consider Jay Wright realistic but I'd give him a call if I were UNC):

Chris Beard
Tony Bennett
Wes Miller
LeVelle Morton
Nate Oats
Eric Musselman
eh, I wouldn't even give Moton a call if I was held at gunpoint. He coaches in the worst conference in college basketball. If Moton wants to be in the running for a P6 job, he needs to move up to the SoCon or Colonial.

and of course, Stephen A Smith and Kellerman were promoting Moton this morning, lmao. Completely on brand for both of them.

probably

UNC is either going to get a big name or promote Hubert Davis. I can't see anything else happening.

I read that Mike White hasn't graduated a single player since he's been coach...

That’s no fun so Boooooo.

Yeah, I know but I'm already drinking and thinking clearly. I don't see anyone other than a UNC assistant or ex assistant, ex player, ex booster, ex cheerleader

This is why it would be so dumb for UNC to restrict their coaching search to people with UNC ties.

Just hire Nate Oates already.

John Beilein is teaching a coaching class. Waiting to turn no name scrubs with D2 offers into first round picks.

lol @ thinking Bennett leaves UVA for UNC. He's proved he can win the ACC. If he leaves Uva it will be for Wisky.

I've briefly met Moton once, and just from that short encounter and following him since he's struck me as very impressive and passionate and I have little doubt he'd have success at a higher level job.

But you're absolutely right that him jumping from NCCU to UNC is waaaayyyyy too steep.

NCCU to any school in the P6 is way too steep.

tbh, I'm under the impression that Moton is perfectly content with coaching @ NCCU. He's been there for over a decade.

yeah, Bennett is retiring at Virginia. You have to shake your head with his name popping up in any coaching search. He won a natty @ UVa for crying out loud.

Makes sense. He did play there and by now he's absolutely had to have had opportunities to go bigger (or at least start climbing the ladder).

I remember Wazzu people were pissed he left for Virginia. It had to be early on at the old sites beginnings. But Coug fans knew the wouldn’t keep him but figured he’d bounce for a bigger job then Virginia.

lol

wild part is that with the success Holland, Jones and Bennett have had, I consider Virginia to be a tier 2 college basketball program now. They have absolutely surpassed Maryland.

I mean, I don't think he leaves either, but I get it. Like that tweet from Matt Norlander you posted said, its arguably is the best college basketball job in the country. If they call, you at least listen even if you're 99% happy where you're at.
