Here are 16 of our new incoming 2024 class working out in Miami for the Orange Bowl. Being able to get these guys practicing 9 months before the season starts is reason enough to qualify for a bowl game.

And those guy can be with their teammates, to watch the three Bowl games that do have value.

Just do a real playoff and let every team practice through December. Then we don’t have to worry about making up reasons bowl games still have value.
We go to 12 next year, and the bowls are still incredibly popular, believe it or not. For 2022:

- Over 100 million people watch a non-CFP bowl game. That's an amazing number. In 2022, there were 45 regular season games that had over 4 million viewers ... a number important for marketing value. In 2022, 13 non-bowl games had over 4 million viewers.

- The bowls are in the top 3 revenue generators for ESPN which owns a majority of bowls. The day will come when that revenue will be shared with the players.

- As you indicate, the coaches love the 15 practices.

- The players love the vacations, and it's a chance to set the spring depth chart.

- The parents get a paid vacation for 4, including swag worth a couple of grand each. So it's fun for them.

At the end of the day, even as people opt out, a majority want to play, they make money, and they are some of the most watched sporting events of the year.

I meant to type "13 non-CFP bowl games had over 4 million viewers."

I sincerely doubt there are 100 million unique viewers for the non-cfp bowls.

Where are you getting that?

According to this there were only 3.

Penn St/Utah: 5.4 million (Rose)
Alabama/Kansas St: 4.8 million (Sugar)
Tennessee/Clemson: 4.6 million (Orange)

Funny, but we are both wrong. I did the 13 from memory, but I am wrong because it appears it's 7 not including Army/Navy. That's still a lot when there were 45 all season. But it's not 13.

You are looking at the Rating number, not the number of viewers.

Feel free to count it up ... it's well over 100 million not counting CFP games. When you have 40 some odd games, it's not hard:

Derp. You're right.

It's actually 8 though. LOL

Edit: Derp again. I didn't see the Army/Navy part.

7 it is.

Don't mean nothin'. Half the kids in that picture will transfer

Unique viewers? Or counting the same viewers over and over?
