Why hasn't the promised upgrade happened at tHoop?

Let's just not mince words and all agree the site looks like complete ass now. It's like Shaggy and Heilrold felt the pressure and rushed something out.

I don't have anything against shaggy personally because, well he was never really there and never part of the community. Can't say I carried on more than a couple of conversations all these years.

And it shows.

I certainly didn't always agree with hammer, but no one can deny how involved he was.

It just feels like they don't have the same inspiration. If the passion isn't there, the end result just can't be as good.

Again, I don't have anything against shaggy, harold, ford, or anyone else over there. None of them have done anything to me, nor anyone I have directly witnessed.

It's just obvious Hammer has more of his finger on the pulse of what most of the established community needs, even if it isn't what some say they actually want.

Ford's always been fine with me, seems like a good guy and straight-forward as an admin. Harold always seemed fine but when this site came around he's taken a complete 180 and is now actively locking out/banning long-time posters who have no prior issues without a warning or explanation.

Seems like something is going on, but without first hand knowledge I'm not going to drive a bus over anyone. I know how these things can get overblown. If it's true these things are going on it's shitty and disappointing. I'd have questions though. There has been a lot of housekeeping and changes. I can't imagine Harold is driving that. If he or the others are just doing what their site owner is asking it's a bigger problem than one rogue admin.

This site was a lot more alive on CFB gameday. That's all I really care about. Where do I go to talk ball and how free am I to do it as I see fit. This week it was clearly here. I'll pop in tomorrow to see which site has the edge on NFL. Maybe it will be a combo.

I'm being 100% sincere when I say I'm embarrassed for Shaggy because I know this was their hail mary.

It just looks they tried and failed to copy us.

He won't even respond to the feedback about it. I've posted a couple times about sincere critiques that could clean it up and gotten nothing back from Shaggy about it.

They lock or delete every thread where posters want to express an opinion and get help and Shaggy is too busy trying to be "one of the guys" for the first time since he registered on the site to lift a finger to actually do anything so that leaves a vacuum that's being filled by a power mad Harold.

Either there will be big changes soon or Harold will slowly choke the life out of the board.

It's painful to witness.

I'm puzzled, Wiz. Don't pretend to have the answers, just reactionary speculating on most of it at this point. There's a whole line of reasoning that Harold is getting thrown under the bus by Shaggy whose only interest is in getting ads going again and he's making Harold the fall guy.

As you said elsewhere, Shaggy is very much out of touch and I'm sure he'd rather Harold get blamed than him.

It's a hopeless clusterfuck. Everyone is mad, the site looks like shit and it's slow as hell. The only reason people are still posting there is a.) a sense of loyalty to tHoop or Harold, or b.) they just don't know about this site yet.

The only admin there with whom I have any familiarity at all is fordman, and I have the same impression of him you do. The other two ... I know nothing about them, although I've always like Harold's av.

It doesn't take more than a minute to send a quick, "hey, chill out" to posters before taking any action, and it doesn't take more than a minute to send out a quick, "hey, you were asked to chill and you didn't, so ..."

Locking out/banning long-time posters who have no prior issues without a warning or explanation doesn't seem to be a good strategy if they want to encourage posters who may be considering checking this place out (or any other, for that matter) to stick with Hoopla.
