Poll Will compact discs or cassettes ever become collectible like vinyl records?

Do you think cassettes and CD's will become collectible?

I found eMusic at one point in college. They had a crazy library of indie and low-tier major label stuff at one point, and it was like $10/month for unlimited downloads when it started. It's still like 80% of my digital library at this point. Most of the stuff I Napster/LimeWire/BearShared is on a hard drive that died.
After I would add things to originally my rca Lyra, I would delete the files. Then I was like fine, I'll get an iPod, that think crapped out even faster.

best MP3 player I ever had was a little Sony that was roughly the same size as my pinky finger. Then Sony shut down their music store

The wife and I have over 200 albums in mint condition stored carefully in our basement. We always took great care when we played them and don't regret the extra time we took.

One day I was going to show my daughter the difference in sound quality vinyl vs CD (vinyl is better and fuck you if you disagree). Anyway, I was showing her how to load the turntable making sure that she was watching how I handled the vinyl and now it was her turn to try. So I pulled out the White album and rrrrrrip big fuckin 2 inch scratch.

Sorry baby girl, you'll never touch my albums again lol

I've actually seen cassettes at antique stores...I ain't buying them though

Vinyl is the only medium of these that is aesthetically pleasing to look at

Durability is also a factor. I found an old Sam Kinison cassette tape an tried to play it and the tape snapped.

I have some older media - 1.44 MG 2HD "floppies", and the data I have stored on them since 1993 is still usable.

You prolly should have pulled out one of your Dave Clark 5's to let her practice

I loved my 40 GB iPod with the old school hard drive...I took that thing everywhere but it was a fucking brick.

30 years ago very few people were collecting vinyl records. You pretty much either gave them away or just boxed them up and let them collect dust. Now they are highly collectible. Cassettes (in various forms) replaced the record, and then the CD. Will the collectibility evolve too?

Dating myself, but always enjoyed reading the liner notes from inside the cassette cases and CD's used to come in boxes that were very similar to a record sleeve. They were kind of works of art.
I am holding on to my mp3 player. Some day...

the iPod I mentioned above...I tried taking it apart to replace the battery and never finished the job...ended up tossing it and I regret it. That thing could be in a museum. I think I have my old Cowon in my center console in my truck...just in case...

I sincerely hope you set fire to the Adam Dunn you had
lolz

I have that Dunn jersey somewhere. I should find it. If my life ever goes to absolute shit and I become a hobo, that jersey will be my go-to attire for the various Chicago park districts I frequent in lieu of a formal home.

Makes perfect sense. One, it's going to be huge! Almost like a tent mansion. Second, anyone that sees you wearing it will automatically know you are indigent

Re-reading your initial Dunn post, I'm now wondering if you meant I set fire to Dunn himself, after dousing him in kerosene or something.

That wasn't exactly what I was going for, but given his .201 avg with the Sox if would be justifiable
