Will Saban retiring really bring parity back to the sport?

It's not just about talent with Saban. It's been his assistant hires and ability to adapt his coaching style as well. Won't be as easy as you think
The fact is he is able to recruit the best athletes in the nation. It is easier to win games coaching elite talent.

The thing about Saban and how dominant he has been at Alabama that blows my mind is that since he has been at Alabama (2007-Present):

LSU has won 2 NCs (2007 and 2019),
Florida has 1 NC (2008),
Auburn has 1 NC (2010) and
Georgia has 1 NC (2021)

sprinkled around Saban's 6 NCs (2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2020).

That's nasty!

Except for Georgia (which has ascended and looks to stay on top), all of those other programs have been up and down, but Alabama remains steady Eddie. Looks like UGA will be the new dominant program under Kirby as the Saban cracks start to get bigger and bigger.

Jimbo showed how to beat Saban and now all of Sabans' disciples are getting in on the act.
Confused Confusion GIF

When Saban retires, there will be parity brought back to the CFP at the very minimum.
I have no doubt about that.
You mean parity throughout or parity within the top 15-20 programs?

At this point, he's not recruiting anymore. He's doing what USC was doing under Pete Carroll and just picking who he wants.

I think if Carroll would have had the 4 team Playoff format available to him, he might have hung around for a while longer. USC would have been a threat to win it EVERY year like Alabama is now under Saban. As it is, he made a good career move, but I think his USC Dynasty could have been Sabanesque with the Playoff Format (as long as he wasn't bored and avoided that NCAA nonsense).
